This set is exactly the same in stats as the Grand Marshal's Redemption. If you like PVE better than PVP, go for the Ornamented set; if you PVP better than PVE, go for the Redemption set for Healadin or Aegis for Tankadin/Shockadin. What you have to do is earn Rep with different factions: Honor Hold, Cenarion Expedition, Keepers of Time (Caverns of Time), Lower City, and Sha'tar (Aldor/Scryer).  Once you get lvl 70 and honored, you can purchase the pieces from the Quartermasters of each faction (Note: Rep gear are on the last page of each Quartermaster's listing. You can only see the gear for your specific Class). So, once you reach Outland, you can actually start working on the Reps before you get to lvl 70, then get geared up. For Pallys and some other Classes you actually get to purchase two different versions of the Rep Gear Sets. I bought both so I could switch if I wanted to.

    Grand Marshal's Redemption: Healadin

Let me know what you think.

As far as the value of this set, it probably depends on how play and what you want to do when you play your palie, but this is not a bad starter set for a newly minted 70, IMHO.  You wouldn't need to be embarrased to be seen in it, you can buy it reasonably, and you can swamp out with better stuff as you are able.  That's my plan - 3 levels to go! Woot! Paladins ftw!

I'm prot speced palie about to hit 70.  And I've been agonizing over the decision about which "starter" set to go with.  There are three options, as I see it.  Crusader's Ornamental Armor, Crusader's Scaled Battlegear, and the Righteous Armor set.  I've already made my decision. But rather than burden you with my existential anxiety or "buyer's remorse" (really I have none) I thought I would post the three sets' stats in a table.

    Purely fyi:

      Crusader’s
    Ornamented
    Crusader’s
    Battlegear
    Righteous
    Armor
    Total Armor 4730 4730 4730
    Strength 0 144 0
    Stamina 170 172 131
    Resilience 92 0 0
    Intellect 111 64 114
    +heal 168 0 0
    +spell [td]58 0 110
    spell crit 99 0 0
    melee crit 0 63 0
    sockets 7 7 7
    mana regen 0 0 23
    defense 0 0 106

Ornamental set bonuses: +35 resilience and 10 sec. reduction in Hammer of Justice cooldown

Scaled set bonuses: +35 resilience and 10 sec. reduction in Hammer of Justice cooldown (hmmm....a pattern emerges)

Righteous set bonuses: 15% reduction in mana cost of consecration and 2 sec. reduction in cooldown of righteous defense
