I wanted to complete this quest at level 52, so the north area was too high for me. I took the advice from an earlier post and followed the road from Everlook to Felwood. Just off the road on either side I found lots of chimera, range 52-55, which I was able to handle no problem. Also found the drop rate was very good... picked up a horn from every kill except for about three or four.
