Metamorphosis is warlock only ability. Requires 51 points in demonology to reach it. You turn into a large shadowy demon and you speak only in demonic. Not even you can read what you type. No your casting is NOT slowed like curse of tongues. No you can not speak to other demons and understand them. No you cannot speak to people with curse of tongues. Using this move frees you from stuns. (Or at least I've found it does from cheapshot) It allows the use of Shadow cleave, which hits up to 3 targets with about 400 shadow dmg.
Immolation aura sets you on fire, burning nearby enemies for about 600 dps. It has a 30 second cooldown. Demon charge, which is useable only once because it has a 30 sec CD, which is how long meta lasts. It can be used in combat. You do not have to be facing your target, but you DO have to be in LOS. You also gain an AOE shout that taunts all enemies onto you, this has a 15 second cooldown, which is kind of pointless for a warlock, but your armor is multiplied by 600 when you metamorphose, so enemies don't hurt you half as much. Also, your damage output is increased by 20%, and your chance to be critted is decreased by 6%. You can be banished and have turn evil used on you. I'm not sure about exorcism atm.
You CAN, i repeat CAN use all your warlock abilities in addition to the demon ones. Using trade skills, cooking, tailoring, making a campfire, etc. breaks it. You can bandage yourself without breaking it. Mounting breaks it. Making a healthstone or soulstone does not. You do get to keep your demon out at all times. You cannot lol or perform any other emotes while in demon form either. You can drink potions. One notable fact though, is that you can't sit down! I've never tried to eat as a demon because I was too busy setting myself on fire but, I don't think you can.
Edit: Exorcism, banish, turn evil, and holy wrath work on demon form. Sap, polymorph, and enslave demon do not. Using will of the forsaken does not dispell turn evil.
Second Edit: After the latest patch, if you get the Nemesis talent, meta begins a 2 minute cooldown upon finishing its duration. Additionally, there is a glyph that extends the duration of meta, allowing TWO charges and immolation auras. Also, exorcism is no longer castable upon players, much like Curse of Doom. I also think shadow cleave should have a bleed effect on it, so cloaking and vanishing rogues don't waste our meta, as cloak doesn't remove bleeds, because, let's face it. Shadow cleave is a worthless spell.
Third Edit: Immolation Aura is green in Northrend and Outlands, red in Eastern Kingdoms/Kalimdor. Exorcism now works on players, and will critically hit you in demon form.
Fourth Edit: Once banished, you cannot do anything other than trinket/EMFH out of it. Meta does not provide slow-fall. You flap your wings and fly when priests cast levitate on you during meta. All Meta-shifted locks are the same size and color. You can influence the color of your meta with buffs/debuffs. Halloween Candy and Zangarmarsh Glowing Blood can make your meta darker or redder.

It got everything we need to know to get started.
Immolation aura, a metamorphosis ability, DOES break stealth of nearby hostile targets when used. That means if you know there is rogue/druid nearby you can pop meta with immolation aura and it will bring them out of stealth.
If you try to eat or drink in demon form, you do it standing up.
Yes, you get to keep your demon out, which means you get Soul Link on top of the 600% increased armor(which is great if you have pvp armor S3 or above, I get to 19.5k), and on top of the decreased chance to be crit, which does stack with the similar crit reduction effect from any resilience. With the taunt, added damage and armor, I have wondered if warlocks could off tank instance trash every 3 minutes in desperate situations, or help tank the last few % of a boss's health if your main tank dies.
This is unfortunately vulnerable to demon CC, however this could be a benefit in arena. You know how alot of priests seem to go out of their way to dispel a pally's bubble when they cast it in arena, no matter what else is going on? Smart paladins use that to manipulate the other team at times. I imagine there are some bitter paladins who'd like to fear you for all those times they were feared in the past. Perhaps demon form could get pallies and other locks to stop what they're doing and chase you to try and get some CC off, and you could pillar hump? That could potentially save a team mate being focused, or help your team finish off their focus target, since the healer stopped healing just to fear little old you.
I dunno if this will really be viable at 80, but it's a theory. If it's not, I'll probably go back to SL/SL.

I have a 2v2 team with me, the demo lock, and my friend, another demo lock. 2 enraged felguard intercepts, 2 demon charges and then set on fire, 2 death coils. We either win the match in less than a minute, or we lose. Last week we were like 17 and 9.

Oh my god this thing is so useful... whoever said u can be the last few % tank rly quick... you were fricking right... so i was in AQ we fighting ossirian and our priest that was next in the healing rotation is getting a beer... our tank dies the priest comes back on by some reason i was the only lock in the raid i go demon charge him set meself on fire tank him for the last few %'s... and boom dead ossirian. TY for the info. this also makes pvp easy when you send in your felguard and he charges you apply as many dots charge him set yourself on fire fear and take him/her down! (im alli btw) and tauren is for dinner.
You obviously have trouble reading. INCREASES ALL DAMAGE DONE BY 20%. I rest my case.
ok so let me just get this straight...if you do not win 100% of the time that means your class is underpowered....ok just checking to see if you were an idiot or just have no skill...sure this move may not win EVERY time but in all honesty it has its OP properties...nothing to really open a ticket out considering you NEED to be Demo to get it (not everyone picks Demo *gasp*)...and i just wanted to point out that if you happen to "tank" a boss long enough for a battle rez on your MT and let him build up extra aggro or long enough for your DPS to drop him to that last bit than wicked...but if you lose enough duels to say this move is weak and not worth getting than you need to make a new character maybe something easy like a hunter...(a little mean but a hunter IS a pretty simple class to play...)

SO my point is, hunters are easy to play...but to be good at it is a totally different story. Same goes for other classes.
You say they should buff it because you don't always win duels with it active? Because it doesn't work like an "I win" button for you? Grow UP. A 3 minute cooldown is NOTHING. I personally, as a demo lock myself, think that a 5 min cooldown would be fairer, but 3 minutes is MORE than generous. QUITE a short cooldown. 30 second of meta is a LARGE amount of time to reapply dots (20% more dmg to em) and spam some incinerates. use a death coil in meta, get 1k health back. This is great for when rogues attack you, because it makes it very difficult for them to kill you with all that extra armor, and this reduces their stun durations.
And the taunt is not worthless. I've had many instances (events, ancedotes, etc) where I had to use it to save a player's life, for example, when my paladin friend and I were killing scourge for the WotLK event, she was becoming overwhelmed with scourge and her health was dropping fast.
I popped meta and taunted, then immolated. Saved her life. And they're not going to give you a THIRD action bar. (One for you, your pet, and the demonform) just to hold four moves. Set the 4 moves off in the corner somewhere together. Meta is NOT OP and it is NOT useless.
Once you learn metamorphosis, it will appear floating above your actionbars, near your pet's actionbar, and where you would find any other shapeshifting spells, were you a druid.
I'd open a ticket. of course, that is if it's truly not there, which I doubt

This is ansanely OP for PvP now. Basically now you can DoT, Fear as normal (with a 20% damage buff) runing around in Plate armour effectively setting yourself on fire and burning things for fun for 30s.....what's not to love :) Unless your on the recieving end of course....at last Demo warlocks have their day in the sun in PvP...
@banachii: Yes, you can use this skill in Burning Crusade, without having installed Wrath of the Lich King. This is true for all of the level 60 talents as the Wrath talent changes were implemented in a patch prior to the 2nd expansion's release.

Jumping looks different from the levitate. Levitate looks AWESOME!
Despite all the good things about this talent, it has a few shortcomings.
Demon form stands out and people will focus fire on you if they see you use this. While stuns and snared are reduced, you are opened up to being feared by paladins and banished by warlocks.

Everything looks the same regardless of race or gender. Additionally, all who thought meta should be longer have gotten their way! There is now a glyph that extends meta by 6 seconds, enough time to use immolation aura TWICE, and the demon charge TWICE.
In addition to the glyph that extends the skill by 6 seconds, there's also the nemesis talent that reduces CD by 30%, so if you got both, you have a 36 second meta and a ~2 minute CD. Enjoy.
Mmmmm I've been playing destro for 1 year, and I might switch to demo because of this sweet skill.
Um they realesed dual spec if u realy want to try it but i think destro is way stronger in raid than demo. Changing how u play for one ability in another tree seems like a good way to get let down.
I have a demo/destruc lock though for PVP/Raid and i like this ability too.
Its not like thats the only talent that would make people switch. personally for me its the felguard its like a voidwalker but is a better tank with more damage and more armor so its a lot better. Also there is soul link to reduce damage you take. There is fel domination which saves a bit of time in summoning. Master summoner and Demonic Empowerment to give you some stat boosts. Demonic resilience to make your pet even better for your personal tank while soloing. Demonc Knowledge to get you more damage based on your demon's stats (better with a felguard). Fel synergy to get your pet health for a percentage of the damage you inflict (lessens to need to resummon and channel health funnel). And of course there is metamorphosis, which is without a doubt a great spell, but there are so many more things you can do with demonology, not to mention if you invest in all of these talents you still have at least 15 leftover to use in other tress like perhaps improved corruption, and improved curse of agony, followed by improved fear to add a little PvP bonus. While your at it grab amp curse so you can cast DOTs faster and then you'll have 2 or 3 left perhaps. Those go wherever you feel it would help and basically you got a great lock for Soloing and a lock that is #1 on the chart for DPS when someone pulls up recount. Get your gear and your unstoppable at PvP and PvE. Fact of the matter is Warlocks own when specced deomonolgy. I hope this was helpful to people trying to pick a spec, don't just base it on the last move.
If you go for meta and grab the "essential" demo skills, you'll have say, 15-18 points left over. The poster above recommended spending them in affliction, which is an option, but personally, I'd go destro and get Ruin, Bane, and Improved Shadowbolt. Mainly cause as a demo lock, your dots are never gonna match an affliction lock's dots, even with Improved CoA and Corruption. A lot of your damage will still be coming from direct spells like Immolates, Shadowbolt or Incinerate, and Soulfires(if you grab Decimation), in which case Ruin significantly ups your damage, while Bane lets you get your bolts, immolates, incinerates, and soulfires off faster. And with improved shadowbolt, you get higher crit chance, letting those nice big Ruin crits happen even more often.
I just switched over to Demo, myself. I went running out SW docks to catch the boat, jumped off the top part aimed at the boat, popped Meta spread my leathery demon wings out wide and splattered my dumb ass all over the stone floor below. Thank you, Blizzard, for the laughter you generate among my guildmates at my misfortune. I wasn't expecting to fly, but glide or soar, similar to slow-fall seemed like a reasonable thing. Amused but disappointed- what's the use in having wings... sigh.

Just now saw this...doesn't put out the damage? My lock's immo aura does around 1k per pulse, and that's just in lvl 80 tailoring gear, and a couple crafted epics(spellshock ring and ammy, titanium spellblade), no raid epics or anything. So with pretty cheap gear, it's a skill that you cast once, then you get 1k damage per second to every nearby enemy for 15 seconds with no channeling. For comparison to other lock AoE spells, Hellfire does about the same damage over the same duration at the same range, for about the same mana, but requires channeling, doesn't give you plate equivalent while you're using it AND damages you in the process. Rain of Fire does more damage per hit, but doesn't hit as often, and will do the same damage as immo aura only if all 4 RoF ticks crit. And it also requires channeling. So really, immo aura's damage output isn't any less than other lock AoE spells, but unlike the others, you can do other stuff while you have immo up...be it spamming shadow bolts, draining life, dotting things up, or even channeling hellfire or rain of fire.
dude your leaving out 1 of the locks most prized moves SOC that is the best AOE locks have and probly the best aoe in the game
SoC is good, but it's dps with my gear is really no more than Immo Aura's, considering the cast time. And if you get the mob on you, and start taking hits causing pushback, it's damage output becomes worse. Of course, you can still use SoC while Immo if up though.
AoE dmg through the roof. Yesterday, while questing in Grizzly Hills, I used this ability to defeat nearly 20 trolls all my level. Send in demon to gather them up, upon his death summoned an infernal then toss metamorphosis + immolation aurora + hellfire to AoE them down. Warlocks rule!

After reading this (thanks to several of you for the great info on things!) I was afraid I would run into Warlocks with metamorphosis all the time!
I started my warlock not long ago, and chose Demonology only because of this cool talent. :)
I've only seen 2 Warlocks transforming so far, 1 in the boooooring PvP and one guy helping me with a quest, suddenly revealed his true nature.
Can't wait to try it myself, only 21 levels to go. ;)

This skill rock for 3 mains reasons:
1: The armor and damage bonus.
2: the skills you gain.
3: When people see it for the first time in BG or arena, they enter the «Total freak out» mode :P
