You have to have bestial mastery to tame any exotic pets. I have seen an ally with one of these so I know they are tamable.

Make sure the silithid that you're trying to tame uses the "mantis" skin. For the sake of simplicity, here's a complete list (with accompanying pictures) of the silithids that can be tamed, according to Petopia.

(TBC) denotes a mob that is found in areas introduced in the Burning Crusade and thus can only be tamed by those who have the expansion. Although Petopia lists Qiraji Tank (60 Elite, Silithus) as a tamable pet, that particular mob only spawned during the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj event, which has since been completed on every server. Creatures listed as "Spawned" after their level are summoned as part of a quest or other scripted event; I do not recommend that you attempt to tame these, as they are not reliably available and there are plenty of regular mobs with the same skins.
The venom web spray is a fairly good ability. My pet has 177 spell damage and 703 AP, and with Bestial wrath and kill command each tick does 254 damage, 1016 total. Not the best dps, but keep in mind that your target won't be able to move and your pet can still attack.
I've tamed the 1 in thousand needles. it's in the small compound in shimmering flats.
They're great in pvp!! I play as a defender and the web is great for this. in combination with the abilities of its tree and BM he is 1 of the most irritating creatures for pvp.....which is a good thing for my team. Of all the exotic pets I like this one the most. good stats, good skills and it looks cool too! Can't wait for the Rhino though.
yea i have one but i change for a hyena because ferocity got better dps and phenix is too much usefull in arena .carrion feader ability suck how can you regain happiness in arena but i got too say wolverine bite is the best kill rogue fast . cunning suck wen they die cunning made for suvivale hunter and mark not made for bm because wat you can do wit dead pet if ou are bm This post is faded because it has a negative score.
The only different from this and spiders is that silithids spell does some dot
I love using Spiders for PvP. Once my Hunters get high level enough to get the BM talent, the Spider goes and the Silithid arrives. An improved Spider basically, as the dot is great. The rooting aility of web is key in PvP, and I've used Crabs on occasion because pin also damages the target. Bothered me that the Spider's special did no damage. So the Silithid's dot was very welcome to me when it became available. Plus, they look totally badass!
