6 on mine.  Best way I've found to get it (if you have a jewelcrafter) is this:  Buy a bunch of eternal earth (7 to 8 gold on my server).  2 of them make a jewelcrafter ring.  DE the rings;  you get 4 or 5 dust (or higher mats) from each.  The side benefit is that it really levels your jewelcrafter.

Pricing and economies change with time, posts today will be meaningless in 2 or 3 months. Post something useful like the crafted item you got the most dust out of, as was done above with the JC suggestion.

The way that i farmed these dust was simple, i just done all the quests in Northrend and disenchanted all the items i got (excluding the items i used to increase the stats on my character), i managed to farm 30+ stacks of  infinite dust  and about 20 stacks of the greater cosmic essence and a few stacks of dream shards from the quests. i also do tailoring and disenchanted the trash green gear that i made to lvl that up, this gave me a few more stacks. this way i got my enchanting up very fast and did the acheivement and got the pattern for the epic cloak in tailoring. so in my opinion this is the most cost effective way to lvl enchnating up. happy questing

    325 or 350 enchanting I believe.

Mainly these drop off greens, so if your worried about prices or don't wanna buy them, save some greens while farming things or questing (Mainly farming or off a dungeon greens) and give them to an enchater to disenchant, that way you have your own dust you didn't have to buy. Store them in the bank for when needed. This is what alot of people do and if your complaining about price then this is one way to avoid losing money from the dust. =)

I'm guessing that the lowest frostweave required tailoring pattern is probably the best bet and the most bang for the buck to get these.

    Frostwoven Boots require x4 bolts
    Frostwoven Cowl require x5 bolts

Cowl reports 140% drop, Boots 103% drop.  Might be worth the extra bolt.  I'll report back after I max out my tailoring.

lvl 71 items will disenchant to 1 dust and this increments up to 5 dust for lvl 80 greens.

On my server it costs 17-25g to make the cowl, but there are items on the ah for about 10g each and are same level, so would it be in my best interest to just buy alot of the cheapies of the ah instead of spending upto double the price just to have made the items myself?

EDIT~ the dust itself is going for about 7-9g a piece lately, ppl selling stacks drops it to about 7 a piece. so it gets pricy. it would work out alot better to get items and either DE urself or get someone to cause you will get other mats, am i correct?

Some items get sold for less than mat cost because ppl lvl on them. So if you have this professions yes it will be cheaper for you to buy them but you do have to make them to lvl your profession anyway

I read the comments but at least for me it’s not entirely clear on where this stuff (Infinite Dust) comes from. Can some please list all the ways of obtaining Infinite Dust, besides the AH, i.e. Jewel Crafting, Mining, or Prospecting. I am just looking for a clear list of ways to obtain or make the stuff because currently it about 100g for a stack of 20 - and I am way to cheap to pay that much, lol.  Thanks so much :)

Most of the time if you see something called [insert mystical-sounding adjective here] Dust it's an enchanting mat.  So if you read the above you will see that the only way to get this mat is to have a chanter disenchant some greens.  Not to be a jerk, but how did you get to the point of needing WotLK mats and not know this already?

Sheesh, this is why buying characters is against the ToS...

any 70+ green item has a chance to DE into Infinite Dust. Items in the low 70s seem to drop 1 or 2, mid range (75) around 4-5 dust, higher ones seem to drop cosmic essence more than dust. Hope this helps.

Actually I just got infinite dust and lesser cosmic essence from DE'ing 3 67-69th level items, but they dropped from Northrend so I guess it's not so much level based as area based.

You can get these from items that drop in Northrend.

BEST WAY TO FARM THIS IS BECOME A ENCHANTER AND TALIOR AND D/E THE BOOTS THEY HAVE A 100% DROP AND ONLY TAKE 3 BOLTS OF FROST WEAVE(if u have gold farmer like i do atleast it will be cheap) so u spend like 100g and u make like 250 150 profit nice

I find your comment funny for 2 reasons. The first being that almost nothing disenchants 100%. even blues, etc, disenchant into 1 thing and have a 1% chance for a different mat to appear.

Second, boots require 4 bolts, belts require 3.  The belts and boots drop about the same (1.5 average infinite dust per disenchant) where the duskweave gloves drop a little higher, and require 9 bolts ( 3.5 infinite dust average). Just remember, these are averages.

Be careful what you make to enchant.

Blacksmiths, there's a cutoff in the "Cobalt" armour line.

You can use 6/7 cobalt to make an item that will average 1.5 Infinite dust per disenchant..or 8 cobalt will make items that average 3.5 infinite dust per disenchant...that's 133% better yield for about 16% more resource. (Don't pick at my maths - I'm only doing this very roughly)

    Same with tailoring and frostweave.

If you have multiple characters supporting each others professions make sure you are levelling in a way that helps the most.

10 minutes of extra research can save hours of extra mat grinding

I would like to know what the enchanting requirement is to DE these things. My enchanting/tailoring character has high enchanting but is too low level to kill the mobs that drop the items listed here. My other character will be level 70 soon so it will be easier to farm these things, but I won't bother if there is a high enchanting requirement.

There are two tiers of Northrend disenchants.  Most <about 75 greens require 325 chanting to DE.  Anything higher than that (or any WotLK blues) requires 350, and from 350 on you can DE anything that's actually disenchantable :P

Here is the easiest way on getting this dust.
Go quest and disenchant the items and the greens that drop from environment. You'll also be helping yourself unlock an achievement for completing most of the quest in Northend.

Better chance on getting richer also :)

I'm going to have to agree with the last comment. If your really wanting Infinite Dust and don't want to pay ridiculous AH prices for them, questing is the answer. ;] Go to Storm Peaks or Ice Crown and do all the quests available. Not only will you making yourself richer (as well as possibly getting an achievement or two, as mentioned above), but your de-ing your own items and making your own dust. DE every item you get, focus on doing quests and your infinite dust will stack up in your bags in no time. And I mean hey, when your done with all that ench lvling, you could do some more questing, more de-ing, and you could be the one setting ridiculous AH prices and making the big money.. Just a thought.

I had the same problem trying to find dust, till i started questing again.
