This sword (The Sun Eater 2.0 if you ask me) drops in Heroic Utgarde Pinnacle.

Hello there,
Have been running Utgarde Pinnacle many times to try get this sword, when it finally drops a Death Knight called Superfreak rolled on it for offspec. Everyone in the group told the person that it wasn't allowed but he said he didn't care and rolled anyway. He won and went off with the sword :( dont really feel like playing anymore but will try to keep at it. Realm doomhammer.

I'm sure this is going to piss some of you off, but I just did my first Heroic UP run last night.  Started with a one tank, wiped a couple times, then he quit and left us.  Got a new tank, who was great, and finished easily with no more wipes.

The sword dropped, but no one wanted it and we didn't have an enchanter to DE.  So we all rolled for it, and I got it.

I'm a mage.

I can equip it, and am going to use it to get my swords up to 400.  Sometimes life is funny.

i ran H UP about 10 time fully.. i was in about 30 pugged groups that had undergeard people.. and i fianly got it about a week ago.. i have a guild leader who has been running it since decmber and hasn't even seen it drop.. so i think the 25% is a little high... every time just cross your fingures and change to loot master on last boss so u can make sure people dont ninja it when it does drop

27th run for me..... god is not kind....... still no drop...

15 leahter gloves
7 mail belts
5 cloth belts...


anyone want those....

and to rub salt in the wounds... I go on my mage for naxx 10  to help the guild they were short 1 DPS (instead of my tank) and the new tank gets the slayer of the lifeless on 1st run.

Well, after reading all the posts last night, it happened to me too. I Tanked H UP, and the DPS DK rolled on the Sword and beat me out... ...he said "I'm sorry", but do people really mean it? He said he needed it because he was working on his Tanking set... ...Then Tank the Damn thing yourself and I'll find a group that doesn't roll "Need" on Off Spec Gear! Done venting. Lesson learned. Will try again tomorrow. BTW, I ran it about 10 times before I saw it drop.

Pally Tank

I can understand the frustration I ran as holy for a long time and every time it dropped and oooooo I really wanted to need on it the tank needed on it and so I passed. Now I am going prot speck in hopes that it will drop for me and some dps / healer wont nurf me.

was running with a DK and this drops....
he rolls a 97 as need..i start whispering him asking him why he did that...
i roll a 100 :D

Mmm.. Death Knights should be tanking with a two-hander, and the only reason they should be rolling on this is if the tank already has it, or simply can not use it (i.e: Druid).
Now, the reason for that is that alot of the boss have a Riposte effect, and with the dual weild, DKs will parry alot more (Using the runeforgings).
Now if a DK was to use a two hand.. they can put the enchant that gives them 25 defense.. Not rating, pure defense.. Which saves them scambling for the last 125 rating..(Coz you know.. 5 defense rating = 1 defense)

(I know some of you may have realised, but you can skip the first two bosses in H UP if you choose.. that is, if your trying to rush through it..)

(Btw got the sword on my 12th run, it was a second drop though, the first I gave to a dual-spec pally, and now I have it for my third spec {Incase I dont like retribution or holy}.. And yes it is legit because their was 3 druids and a priest in the group.. so I won fair and square)

Well I for one got this blade a while back (maybe 3-4 months ago) and actually I underestimated it because it is actually a really good tanking weapon. I have the naxx 10 tanking weapon now Slayer of the  Lifeless but if you compare stats this in a way is actually better. Just wanted to post cause I had some good memories with this sword and even if it is a low drop rate off the king it's so worth it cause you can take this weapon as far as naxx 25 and it's still good IMO.

ok so  it dropped today i was tank freakin warrior needed sayin ..  menso rolled need 9/mandrak rolled need 11.. he said thans guys for starting my career as a tank i got the wepon now ..i said wut im so pissed off

WOOT!!! just got this sword first full run!!! even had a hunter as leader and he passed. so not all hunters r bad!! :)

I tanked the instance. Sword drops. DPS:er needs and wins. I can´t describe how I felt seeing him win that roll... Meanwhile I´m running around with an abysmal blue.

For the love of God. I don´t press need on stuff for my offspec while performing the role of tanking (unless I see that everyone else greeds or passes). Why would you steal this from a tank trying to gear? =(

As has been stated before: if YOU intend to need on tank gear, then YOU fu@#ing tank. This guy inspected me and clearly saw that I was in dire need of a new weapon. If I wasn´t such a good person, I swear I´d go dps each and every time some plate dps gear dropped. Just to try to ruin someone´s day. Like this a$$hole did mine...

ok after reading all of these comments on the ninjas and the terrible drop chances, i randomly get asked by a friend to tank for H UP

this friend of mine knows im a very poorly geared tank, but was kind enough to have me tanking because i had a total of 8 more defense rating than him. i came into the H UP equipped with a teldrassil protector from the tournament as my weapon, btw


so anyway, im tanking this instance. and i might mention, this was my first time tanking in months, as i had focused alot on my pvp spec (ret) at the time
also important to note, i was tanking the instance in a PVP chest. thats right, i was tanking in a deadly gladiators scaled chestpeice. also, this was my first time tanking since before the paladin tank nerf (-10% threat gen from righteous fury) so i was having difficulties holding aggro on the occasional caster mob standing too far back for my hammer of righteous or consecrate to smack



so anyway, im running this with 3 other plate wearers (2 dps pallies and a holy pally) and a shammy

we kill the king (tried to get the chiev for not getting hit by bane but i guess i taunted him or something while he was casting it)

the sword drops

i IMMEDIATELY roll need, my heart pounding like crazy after reading all these comments, fearing for the life of me that one of the pallies will ninja

apparently the tank specs for those pallies all had peacekeeper blade already and were just doing it for the daily... but still! i won this rolling a 1!!! :D





edit: the very next day, i was tanking H ToC, and the peacekeeper blade dropped. i rolled need, and so did some hunter. he rolled a 3, i rolled a 4. man this week has been great xD

Would it be Douche if a DPS DK rolled on this?
