Stop complaining about ret paladins.

I am currently leveling my dk and, when I play him, in mediocre gear (except for those BoA 10% experience pvp shoulders, PVP btw..) I am usually first in dps, by a lot.

Whenever I play my ret paladin I am usually in first. However whenever my ret paladins beats everyone by over 500 dps they say it's becuase my class is OP, that's why I pwn and still have half blues.

No, no, not becuase I've researched all the rotations, and spot on when the tank aggros, try my best to attack what the tank is attacking to not pull as much aggro I attack from behind I use what rotations when for aoe pulls or for single targets etc. I try doing what attacks when and think about what attacks to do smartly rather than just randomly button smashing.

So, good dps is much up to the skill of the player, their rotation, and how on the ball they are when they play more so rather than gear and class. Although in truth good gear sets players apart, a warrior who only uses auto-attacks or a warlock who only uses wand, or a hunter who only uses auto-attack will always obviously do less dps than a member of the same class even 20 levels below that make use of all their talents and yellow damage. Therefore, a good rotation, intelligence, and basic common sense can increase dps more so than anything else will, and that's what increases dps and makes it op.



Perhaps we have so many OP pallies becuase back in the day paladins could only use CRUSADER STRIKE and auto-attack and still managed to pull off great dps by the very fine tune manipulation of gear, rotation, and the mechanics of the game to even be capable of achieving a dps similar to that of another equally geared dps class.

And you know what? All the oppressed Ret pallies from BC worked with what they were given, which wasn't much, and still managed to pull off pretty good dps. Imagine taking this same equally geared ret pally and giving him the new buttons of wrath, and keeping his skill he had in BC. If with auto-attack and crusader strike he was capable of doing a decent amount of dps... now with Divine storm, crusader strike, consecration, exorcism, and judgment he can now pull off an extremely powerful amount of dps.

Chiefly speaking, you give someone an ice pick to climb a mountain and he eventually does it, while everyone around him are given extremely good mountain climbing gear and hooks, he's going to have a harder time getting to the top of the mountain. However when this person with an ice-pick manages to go at the same speed as the people in full gear, imagine if you give the guy with an ice pick full gear. He's going to be 10 times better than all the other people becuase he's better skilled.

That's exactly what happened when we transitioned from Wrath, you have a bunch of highly skilled ret paladins from BC that made it running around doing insane amounts of dps, and of course those few noobs.

Regardless, my DK beats ret paladins in BETTER gear and DK's in better gear very easily, and so that should be enough to say that it is skill and not simply your class and gear that defines your dps, and I'm sure many other players could attest to this.
