Let me start by stating that this is NOT a hard quest. In fact, it's quite fun!
The start of the area that you'll need to be is basically 31, 42 ... or just northeast of the Reliquary of Pain.
Once you're there, use your Sceptre of Command to snag a Bloated Abomination pet of your very own and proceed up the snowy hill. Here's where inexperience can make this quest suck - if you're a hunter I'm about to bore ya cause you should already know this ... don't just walk out into the mess. Rather, target one of the Darkkari Skullcrushers and press your pet's attack button. Your pet will run out after the mob leaving you relatively safe. As your pet Abomination is attacking the mob, target another mob a bit of a jaunt away (it helps if there are other Skullcrushers in between the first targeted mob and the second - the point is you're trying to get a bunch in a group. Once you have a good number OR if you feel like your pet Abomination can't take much more of the beating, make your pet Abomination EXPLODE by pressing the "Burst at the Seams" button. You should now have credit for all of those kills. Now simply rinse & repeat.
If you want to grab more Skullcrushers to shorten your time on the quest, press the "Flatulate" button which will knock down all the mobs on your pet Abomination giving it a short reprieve so that you can direct it to gather up more of em for the "fireworks". =D
After every 20 credited kills, a Dakkari Chieftain will spawn. They are quickly intercepted by a flying gargoyle, thus, you need not be worried about them. In short, ignore them.
I've posted before about some problems some of my mods seemed to be having with these type of "grab a pet" quests related to this chain. I didn't have the same issue this time around but if you're having troubles, try this: LOG OUT, DISABLE ALL ADD-ONs (for just this quest), RE-LOG and TRY AGAIN. They may have fixed the problem but I don't trust em! =D
So there you have it! Happy Huntin'!
Cazadora has said it very well, but I will add 1 little tidbit that is a bit useful. There's an adjacent wall to where u go to pick up your next Abomination ( if u are running back to get one it's to your left). This is a safe place to refresh your disguise periodically before it gives out on u right in the middle of attacking with your Abomination (not a good thing). As Cazadora said, the whole idea is to kill as many of the Drakrari as u can at one time. Image wise, just visualize the Abomination as a living bomb the you want to do as much collateral damage as possible. This quest really is a lot of fun.
can i just add reading all the posts down below (skimming over them) people complaining about not getting credit for exploding more than 4 i did this quests 3 full times to prove this theory cause i had the same problem
when you round up 4-20 and are ready to explode stand next to ur abomination you dont get credit if you dont get knocked back i found 100% of the times i got thrown back i got award my average of 15 kills at once .....if i was far away they would die and i wouldnt get credit !
so stack on with ur abomination and blow ur self up !! it hurts for 1000 damage thats it
if you're a hunter, check this out. Aspect of the Pack works great with your "Bloated Abomination", because they are fortunately immune to daze effects. Enjoy!
So, just finished my second time around doing this quest and I thought I'd play around and actually figure out what the problem with not getting credit was.
First, it's not simply range as some people have mentioned, you can be right on top of your abomination when it detonates and still get zero kills.
However, it is interesting to note that the people having problems are the ones that round up the entire camp, these people are obviously using the flatulence ability to the max, and that appears to be the problem.
Not that they use it as such, but you can't use it just before you detonate. The trolls either need to be unstunned or extremly close to the abomination to count as kills for you, not sure which(not that it matters, as the two are intrinsically connected).
Anyway, the way to assemble large groups and get them to count is simply to use flatulence while gathering, but allow them all to converge on the abomination and start hitting it before you detonate.
The trick is, you have to be in disguise, otherwise the bloated abdomination are just attacking you instead of under your influence.
In my experience, this quest is slightly bugged.
I rounded up skullcrushers the same every time, got a group of about 5-9 of them, blew them up, only half the time did they register as kills. Others around me were having the same problem.
We got in a group, first time again it was bugged, then the next time it work. So I guess its pretty random.
You've got to round them up and use the stun to stay alive while doing so, when you get 10-15 or so just make the abomination explode and control another abomination.. took me about 5 minutes and was very fun watching 15+ trolls fly through the air from an explosion. =P
The problem isn't that it's hard. It's that the quest is bugged. I was only getting credit for roughly 1/4 of the mobs I blew up. I had to kill over 200 of them before I got the 60 required to complete the quest.
OK I figured out why I wasn't getting credit - it may be the same for some of you.
When I gathered a bunch up, I was sending the Abomination way off in the distance, then blowing him up and getting zero credit even though I kill about 20 mobs. After I while, I figured out I only got credit if I was close to the Abomination when it blew up, so I started recalling it (pressing follow on the pet bar) and not blowing it up until it got close, then I got credit every time.
You may just not be close enough to the Abomination when it blows up.

Make sure you have your undead disguise on :)
If you're loaded up with stamina or are a heavy armor class;
- Make sure you're "Undead" using the quest item.
- Go get yourself an Abomination pet by using the scepter.
- Put it on PASSIVE.
- Just walk through the camps of Drakkari, and from time to time, press the knockback skill on the petbar.
- When you've rounded up 20-40; "Boom!"
I did the entire quest on my alt in just two pulls.
Ashley
This is maybe the moste annoying quest i hvae ever done!
when i kill more than 20 at once i dont get the kill!!!!
ok I have figured out that using flatulate prevents you from getting credit somehow. If I use it I get no kills. If I dont use it I get credit regardless of how close I am.
bugged to fuck
i dont give a $#@!$@# what kinda bullshiz you have to do, if the quest says kill, and you kill the mfing Drakkari, Blizz is full of fail for not giving you credit. some late night programmer hopped op on caffeine and hot pockets dropped the ball on this one....
Yeah, it is kind of bugged, but I kept attacking mobs and eventually it works. Thanks Blizzard, good to know my money is going to such good use...
That shit doesent work, not even if you stop using Flatulate... someone tell me whats wrong with this freaking quest!?!
Aight guys this quest bugged so hard I did about 16 pulls and got kills from 1. Then i tried to kill only about 3-6 trolls and it worked, I know it is slow but at least you will get the quest done. I hope this helped someone:)
Flego
I've finally figured it out after spending about an hour doing it on both my mage and dk. Use whichever different method you want to gather up the trolls, just make sure YOU ONLY CLICK ONCE when you're blowing him up. Do a single click on the command and you should get credit every time. Hope this helps.
I've done this quest on 3 different toons and have had the same problem everytime. I've tried all the suggestions above on the latest one (did quest last night) and none of it seemed to be reliable. So I popped open a GM ticket and was told
"We are aware of the situation you reported, and we are currently working on a solution." as at 12:23pm / 12/07/09 NZ Time.
So it looks like you just need to keep doing it over & over until it finally happens for you.
Yea, this game has been out almost a year and there are still bugged quests? wow.
Nothing anyone suggested has worked, don't waste your time. Just keep going until you get it.
Ok...
First Lesson is to NOT ATTACK IT YOURSELF!! If you do, you're Abomination creature you charmed won't be under your control anymore!!
Second Lesson is to get a big group of trolls attacking the Abomination creature you charmed, step back a few feet away from them, and click the spell that makes him EXPLODE!!!
P.S. make sure all the trolls attacking him are close to him or they wont be blown up and come to get you!!! O:
I want to say more, but it's already said by other people ):
Lol, Happy umm EXPLODING!! XD
Thanks! I did the same mistake and I was so pissed off with the "bug" and then I came here and read your comment. And now I feel like an idiot. But I finished the quest :)
why the bloody hell blizz doesnt fix this quest is a mystery to me
This quest is still bugged......i did this quest 2 months after WotLK came out on my druid, again on my Death Knight 2 months after, and again today (11/10/09) and am so pissed off right now that i could pretty much punch my computer.
The quest doesn't give credit for the kills even if you gather up 3 mobs, stand next to your abomination, or don't use flatulence, this is just an example on how crap blizzards employee's are, and how lazy their customer service team is because it took them over 8 hours to contact me, and it turned out that they were "finding a solution for this problem" just a year 2 late imo
GL to anyone who tries this quest, its complete Bulls%%t, id recomend abandoning it to anyone who doesn't want to spend 1 hour going "wtf just happened, why the f%%k didn't i just get credit for those mobs", etc etc"
I think he means 10/10/09...and I just did it (10/14/09) and it works just fine
Still bugged today, worse than before. I've done this on two previous characters shortly after WOTLK came out with no problems, but now it doesn't work.
I do this chain because it's one of my favorites, but if you're spending an hour or two on a simple world quest, what a waste of time...
A little bit of info, just for fun. If you are standing near the abomination when you explode it, you get knocked back through the air. Have fun.
For all the frustrated people doing this quest, i tried every method too without success until i rounded up the trolls near a firepit and used burst. didn't get full credit (like 60%) still bugged but it's doable.
EDIT:
45 minutes after starting this quest, i'm finally finished. Over that time I went on a journey; I swore at my computer, I laughed, and I cried. It was quite an experience. Basically, if the game is feeling generous you might get between 30-60% credit for all the trolls you kill. In short..
YOU FEELING LUCKY, PUNK?
The games been out longer than a year and this fucking quest is still bugged because the lazy bastards at blizzard cant be arsed fixing it
hurry the fuck up and get your fingers out your arses you money grubbing dickheads Christ is it really that expensive to hire someone to fix this out of the millions of dollars you make a day ?
