This is confirmed to drop at a 100% drop rate from Time-Lost Proto-Drake in The Storm Peaks.  It's an elite rare spawn with 18k health that doesn't grant the achievement for killing a rare spawn in Northrend.  It's spawn timer hasn't been confirmed yet, but it's at least 6 hours; however, it could be much, much higher.

Here are the coordinates that I have spotted it at:

[39, 58] - Pats around Engine of the Makers
    [36, 63]
    [33, 66]

Many guilds have this mob farmed, so good luck finding it.

okay here is the skinny on this guy.  The 6 hour timer is BS.  Unless he spawns 3 miles away and has multiple pat paths.  I think the timer is much longer.  I was there on a Monday at 11pm server on silvermoon got a target on him using a macro. (/target time). unfortunately I didn't see it before it flew off too far and I lost the target. but what I did find later was a dead time lost proto-drake at about 11:15.  The exact coords for the dead proto was 28.08-51.8. in a little valley north of valkyrion.  so too bad I missed that one. I figured that I would just hang out the next day and get it.  Tuesday I waited to log on not by choice but because of maintenance. so at 11am server I logged on. and I flew what I think is the most viable path that it follows based on the info I've found. he comes from the south of the engine of the makers through the blue drakes over and to the north of the frigid tomb(left turn ) past and to the north of the brood mothers nest into bor's breath ravine (right turn north) toward the valkyrion village and onto the snow drift plains. from there its anyone's guess but that's the only hunk O path I have any personal EXP with.  as for the timer I was there on Tuesday from 11 am to 1am on Wednesday morning. that's 14 hours so even if 1 person got it before me I would have seen its corps because its not sinkable or I would have caught the next one. If the 6 hour thing was right.  so okay lets ask a a GM if there is a problem with it. Nope functioning correctly they assure me.
    The macro is as follows
    /target time
    /target vyragosa
    /target dirkee
    /stopmacro [noexists]
    /tell YOURNAMEHERE >%t<

I just got this guy on my mage so I figured I'd add what I've found and answer some of the questions on here that no one answered.

First things first, he does not spawn every 6 hours.  A guildmate killed him at exactly 10:15 pm and I went to where he was killed 6, 10, 12, and 14 hours later and not see him.  I then proceeded to wait until I saw him spawn.  His timer is 18 hours.

He did not take the path that myself and the other 7+ people that were camping him today thought he would.  From what I noticed, he did not come from the Engine area and up Bor's Breath, but actually the Grom'Arsh Crash Site and over Valkyrion.  The only reason I got him was that everyone else who was camping was entirely too low (we were all facing the wrong direction).  When I tagged him, he was at least 75+ yards in the air, which required me to use slow fall.  He was extremely easy to kill.  He dropped (himself?), two blues and a satchel which contained 15g and 9x Netherweave cloth.

    To answer some questions:

    He has 18k HP.
He casts a counter-spell type ability called Time Stop.
His melee hits are weak VS. cloth.
He flies VERY high when his patrol is near Valkyrion.
    I killed him at 27.58

Here's an image of the path he seemed to take from what I observed.  The red is the path of course, and the green "X" was where I killed.

    Good luck and happy hunting!

My original post was taken out apparently because nobody believed it. It got a lot of negative response.  However, I believe the information is extremely valuable so I will give it again.  If everyone chooses to discredit again, then you simply don't deserve the mount.

I searched for about a week or so sporadically before the following events:

Monday 2:18 - I was jumped by Vyragosa at 37,64.  I tried to kite her down but got nervous because people started showing up.  I landed and tagged her with my thrown weapon.  She wouldn't come closer and I already dismounted.  I'm melee so I couldn't get her.

Saturday 2:21 - Dirkee pop up on my macro.  I circled around and found him dead on the ground at 38,57

Tuesday 2:08 - Found Time-Lost Proto-Drake at 43,58;  kited him down in front of Frigid Tomb and killed him.

Look at the times!!  They're just to close together to not share the same respawn.  If this is a coincidence, then I am by far the luckiest TLPD hunter ever.  I for one, do not believe in coincidences.  Ignore this if you guys want…. I really don't care much because I already have my Drake.

To those who listen to me, i wish you good luck.
To those who think I’m full of shit….. just keep on thinking you know everything and see how that works out for you.

Ok so here is the rundown on my pursuit to becoming an owner of this truly awesome Proto Drake.

After many hours of reading thru all the posts and looking at maps, I was able to make a game-plan that worked.

I will first say plan on a ton of time investment if you want to hunt him rather then be a random chance owner.

After much research the highest probability areas of finding him are from Valkyrion thru Boars Breath and over to Engine of Makers. This stretch of land has the highest amount of kills for both Vyragosa and Time Lost.

As for hight, a good gage is the port (or hole) in the side of the mountain that has the Temple of Storms on top. If you fly just about 10 yards lower then the hole your about right.

However just passing Boars Breath and toward Valkyrion drop down about 10 more yards so you are about 30-40 yards up from ground.

From my research I believe both dragons spawn just between Valkyrion and Boars Breath. Now this may only be one of the spawn points, but I believe one of the most frequent.

I made 2 kills on Vyragosa before killing Time Lost.

One Vyragosa Kill was exactly at the same spot I killed Time Lost. Location 32,66.

This is a link to a map that I used from a previous poster.
I think the 4 routes shown are very accurate. The Purple route being the most popular for kills.

      map link is :

So of the four routes the one with highest amount of kills is the purple one. And the highest number of kills is between the three dots on the left side.

As I was saying from Valkyrion to Engine of Makers.

All four routes have reported kills so you might not want to totally eliminate them.

I was able to find out as far as spawn times, No dice !! You can't bet on any time method for spawn.

Unrevealed source informed me that after say either Vyragosa or Time Lost is killed from 1hr to forever you may or may not see either Vyragosa or Time Lost.

What it boils down to is once either one of them is killed, after 1 hr either one could spawn. Vyragosa has a much higher chance to be the one to spawn. She has the higher spawn chance.

Time lost is a considerably lower chance.

Technically there is no guarantee for either one but the chance percentage is such that one or the other will spawn with Vyragosa being the more probable.

Which is why I personally killed 2 Vyragosa before Time Lost. And additionally heard of 8 others that reported Vyragosa Kills.

Anyway they have designed the chance ratio so that we do get dragons, just more Vyragosa then Time Lost.

Personally I spent allot of time out in Storm Peaks after Raids and in between Heroics. I am a Herbalist so I could use the flight paths as a Herb route which paid nicely.

I did most of my flying out here and hunting him at night when I knew most of the server was asleep. So that if he was up I would increase my odds.

My kill was at 3:00 am :D so it worked for me anyway.

All I can say is if you want to hunt him, the more time out here in the area the better your odds are.

Not for everyone and to be honest I was ready to quit lol.

But that one night when I had one eye open and was on the hunt, BAM there he was O.O The rush of seeing him untagged waiting for me to get was a thrill!! My heart rate increased, on went crusader aura and peddle to the metal >>>> Tag your mine!!

It was really one of the funest experiences in game so far.

Oh also be prepared with slow fall goods. They sell drinks out here from the Dwarfs. Get something. Cause if you tag him really high up its fall damage that will own you.

But also you can loose aggro say if you bubble after a tag. You will fall to fast and reset aggro.

Best of Luck to all !!

Ok got pics to work with imageshack :)

If your vote was down because pics were not working sorry about that.

      Peace

      Eledin (Stonemaul-US)

I just killed him today on my server Quel'Thalas, at 12:04 am server time.
He was flying right at the entrance of Bor's Breath, at the frozen waterfall by K3 (36,72). He was really high up, at the top of the mountain peaks, heading north into Bors Breath. I didn't even need to use my macro, he was very obvious and stood out from a far distance.
I flew up to him to get aggro, used snowfall lager, then tagged him with a DOT. It was a pretty easy fight for a L80 warlock.

I had killed Vyragosa for the first time 3 days ago at nearly the same time (Feb 19 @ 11:30pm ST) and also in Bor's Breath, although it was closer to the Valkyrion side.

Here is a victory shot documenting the location where i killed him :

Here is a pic of me simulating Time-Lost's position where I spotted him:

Riding off into the moonlight :

*EDIT:  5 days later (Feb 28), again at Bor's Breath, this time by Valkyrion, on 12:20 am.  See below:

So last night while waiting for a Guild HoL run I saw him flying past Uludar, I took off and landed just below him on one of the arches then pulled him down with Death Grip as he flew by.

Wanted this mount, but never saw him when I actually was looking.  Got lucky.  Thats how you get this mount, you get lucky.

OK, OK, after SH*T tons of reading through MANY sites, asking people on my server with the drake.. I have found a common time ACROSS SERVERS. A lot of the time, people find their drake at 3:00 AM, roughly.

May be a good time to check. More commonly found around Bor's Breath, Engine of the Makers, The Foot Steppes, Brunnhildar Village, and Valkyrion. More so a pat between them.

      SUGGESTED ADDON: NPCScan.

I had no trouble staying in range on the ground as a rogue. He has 18900hp and was an easy kill. He is easy to spot from a distance while in flight, and was at an altitude of roughly 100 meters. I hope this information helps.

Seen this dragon killed twice on my server within two days. One at 5:15ST and the other at 11:45ST. Both times I was off about 5 minutes.

I have been tracking all the rare spawns in Storm Peaks. This is what I have found.

      TLPD 5:15PM ST Wen
      Vyragosa 12:40PM ST Thur
      Dirkee 9:30PM ST Thur
      TLPD 11:45AM ST Fri

It can be two days within a spawn time. It might not show again for a week, but never say it will not spawn.

The 6 hour spawn timer applies to other rare spawns, but this one is on a random spawn timer.

I can't confirm this, but I read that it's spawn chance is based on a random roll, after a pre-determined period of time is over, a number roll will take place, if the number is between two particular values, the drake will spawn, else it won't spawn, and the timer roll will take place again after that pre-determined amount of time is over. Blizzard wont release that kind of game mechanic info.

I managed to kill him today , after almost 2 months of hunting . Stormreaver server , location 29.65 Storm Peaks , 06:20-06:30 server Time. As said before , it's an easy fight . The difficult part is just to find him :). So create macro and spam the hell out of it .

Here is the macro , which is the same as the one described in previous posts.

Macro (with this one you'll be able to find Vyragosa and Dirkee at the same time you search for Proto-Drake)

      /tar dirkee
      /tar Vyra
      /tar Time
      /stopmacro [noexists]
      /tell placeyournamehere > %t

      good luck

The first time I tried looking for this thing, I failed. Spent several good hours, between 12am-5am est. Went to bed late, and decided to hire the kid next door for $2 + a coke/hr to look for it using the NPCScan addon; all he had to do was move about the map. Told his parents he could sleep over and play with my kids, but he wasn't going to be sleeping that night. At about 2:12am est, the kid woke me up, he found the drake over the frost drakes. Lesson, use the npcscan addon, pay a kid, and search around that little area many claim him to be found and you'll find it in no time.

Got mine on Hydraxis server tonight at 12:20AM server time.  Was flying up the waterfall at Bor's Breath.

The NPC scan addon is a MUST!  Was just flying casually by (I had been camping for two hours and was just about to go to bed) when my NPC Scan sounded off and the screen went red.  I didn't even see him as he was below me.  Though once I clicked the button, targeting him was easy.

Tagged him, drank my snowfall lager, hit the ground and killed him in like 4 shots.

Then general chat was full of cheers and jeers.

After months of farming the sea turtle and the proto drake, I was lucky enough to get them both in one week.  All the comments on Thott kept me going, and I know you can get yours!!

Good luck everyone! Feel free to ask Iddy (draenei shaman) on Hydraxis any questions.

Finally got mine this morning on the Ysera server at 08:44am California time/11:44am server time at 47,64.

He was flying low (lower than Vyragosa)and in a northbound direction coming from over Brunhildar Village (I might have spelled that wrong). I was flying southbound coming from right around the bend from Bors Breath. My NPCscan add-on went off and my heartrate went up when I saw it flying almost next to me. I aggroed it and brought it down to the ground at 47,64 where I had no problem killing it (I'm a lvl 80 hunter with a devilsaur pet). My only concern at that point was whether I was going to get attacked by one of those enemy rhinos that walk in groups with the passive rhinos. Nothing happened.

Advice: I have read all the comments on all the different sites and I have to say the best two tools I used that helped me, besides just plain dumb-luck, were the NPCscan add-on as well as the map provided by tellmeyouloveme in one of the posts above. I set up a flight plan everytime (and this was a daily commitment) I visited the Storm Peaks where I covered (with my epic flyer) each path in the map. It only took a few minutes to cover the whole area. I tried not to limit myself to camping out at one spot because I felt it ignored all the other locations he could be at. With so many people looking for tlpd waiting for it to show up at one spot can be a bit risky. Yes, it seems Bors Breath is the intersecting point for many of the paths in the map above but he has to get there first from somewhere else unless, of course, he actually spawns in Bors Breath. This may work for others but I was concerned about it.

I did try the 6 hour rule once I saw the dead corpse of Vyragosa a few times, coming back in 6 hours and patrolling for an hour or so, and that didnt work for me. I am not saying its wrong - it just didnt work for me.

All I can say is to keep at it. I am like all of you in that I have read the posts, been envious, invested the time (too much of it) and been disapppointed many a day for the last 3-4 months wondering when my time was going to come when I could post a post like this one. Luckily (emphasize "luckily") my strategy worked for me this morning.

Good luck to all of you - keep trying :) and don't give up.

Got mine at 5:30PM server on the Hydraxis server today. NPC Scan popped just east of the Engine of the Makers but I lost his target (I think he was high up). Had to bust out my macro and then frantically flew down Bors breath back and forth and then down to K3.

By that time I figured he was lost and I would find him dead & looted. Went back to E of TM and targeted him again....still free to attack. This time he was at a more reasonable height but seemed higher than Vyragosa (whom I have downed at least 8 times).

My 7 year old son was next to me and we leapt up and down screaming (scaring his older sisters). I am kind of a geek for the rares with both Bloody Rare and Frostbitten complete. I also have tamed Loque, Gondria and Aotona and even have the Raven Lord ground mount from Sethekk Halls so this was (IMO) the last rare keeping me up. I have hunted him for months without so much as a sighting of a carcass before today.

I HIGHLY recommend NPCScan along with the rare spawn overlay on a map (like Cart/Cart 3) offers so you can tuck in in the corner of your screen. Now that I have mine I wish everyone GL on getting theirs...

      02: Info Sheet
03: Story for any who care.
      04: Image Links

I've read about these TWO spawn spots for Vyragosa.  I've read about theories that TLPD is a chance to spawn in the place of Vyragosa.  I've read about other theoretical "Spawn Spots."  After my experiences farming this, I believe there are only two spawn spots.  The frozen lake and Brunn.  Why I believe this is explained towards the last section of the story.

      Time-Lost Proto-Drake Camping Info Sheet:

      Server: Undermine
Kill Time: August 18th, 5:42am  (Didn't despawn 'till 6:20 hahaha awesome.)

      2009.08.13 . 17:30 . Vyragosa Corpse Spotted
Info:  On the frozen river just east of the small frozen waterfall at 33, 65.

      2009.08.14 . 05:21 . Vyragosa Killed (bor's breath, frozen lake 29, 65)
Info:  This was creepy as hell.  I was just over the middle of the lake about 50 yards up in the air.  I heard a roar, huge wings flapping.  I looked at the screen and was looking around and couldn't figure out what the hell, then it appeared right above me.  I don't know if my hard drive was taking it's time loading the graphics into the video card or what, but jesus it was cool.

      2009.08.15 . 06:43 . Vyragosa Killed (brunnhildar village 48, 68)
Info: Flew down the mountain at 50, 71 into the middle of Brunn.  Tapped it and downed it as it was flying into the Foot Steppes to the north.

      2009.08.15 . 09:58 . server goes down for reset

      2009.08.16 . 10:06 . Vyragosa Killed (bor's breath, Frozen Lake 29, 65 -- brunnhildar village 48, 68
Info: Same as on 5:21, complete with hearing the roar and flapping before it appeared over my camp spot.  This time it was pointed towards the river and headed east.

      2009.08.17 . 06:55 . Vyragosa Killed (brunnhildar village 48, 68)
Info: Same exact scenerio as on 8.15.

      2009.08.18 . 05:42 . Time-Lost Proto-Drake Killed (brunnhildar village 50, 70)
Info: Same exact scenerio as on 8.15, but I was sitting on the edge of the hill where Vyragosa had come down from and it spawned no more than a dozen yards above me, well within visual range so I'm assuming that's the exact spawn spot there.  Not on top as people had speculated.

      Story:
First, I would like to mention how I first learned about the Time-Lost Proto-Drake (TLPD, as we know it.)  Back in a previous guild I had a 4 hour nax run with a bunch of first timers and a couple of us who had done it and only did 3 bosses, wiping a few times before quitting against the four horsemen.  I wasn't happy.  When I'm stressed out, from work or whatever, I will get on my pally and run an ore mining loop I worked out over time that takes me over Valkyrion.  Having done the Brunnhildar dailies I was well aware of all the mobs in that particular area.    I don't mess around with mobs when I'm farming to calm down, so any time there are ores impossible to get to I just pass them.  And if something aggros on me before I dismount trying to get within range of one I just fly away.

So I was flying over Valkryon doing the basin/icecrown/peaks path for titanium and was flying over the blighted pool and through town.  I fly out of the gate into frozen lake because I see titanium around that lake all the time.  Just passing through the gate a drake aggros on me and I think, seriously?  I wasn't near those bastards and keep clicking off of it and kept flying.  Was really pissed still about naxx, and ket going down the river.  It followed me a good distance before going away.  Then some drama picked up again from someone who asked how we were full clearing naxx10 weeks before and we couldn't even.. blah blah...

Next morning I was on vent telling an officer who couldn't make the raid how it went and venting about it, mentioned the farming including the bit about the drake chasing me and was starting to talk about the convo in whispers and he said wait wait WAIT.  Back up.  Tell me about this drake.

So I said "it was just one of those fuckers on the ground and I have no idea how it aggrod on me that far away and chased me for as long as it did but I don't care" and tried to go on with my story.  He stopped me again and said maybe it wasn't one of those and told me about the TLPD.  I looked it up, and realized instantly after looking at it, that in retrospect it surely was a rare.  Part of me inside opened up pretty wide and was yelling for a long time.

      I closed it thismorning.

That day I started studying the spawn theories and so on, which sucked back then.  I camped it a lot, spending more and more time each day over a few days flying around and sitting in spots, etc.  It culminated in me sitting in a supposed hot spot, hoping my addon would find it.  The point where I realized I was taking it too far was when I had my speakers up all the way and was sleeping on the floor next to the sub so I would be sure to wake up if anything was found.

I backed off and only as much as mined the path I mined before, did some runs on the paths it was reported to take from more and more sources as time passed, and never camped again.

Months passed, still reading about TLPD, still trying to get an idea for it.  Sometime towards the end of the summer before wrath came out I started multiboxing.  I had 2 toons and my girlfriend only had one.  But she quit playing some months before this whim started, so I had transferred her toon and a toon I built on it over to my own account (QQ about account sharing, we've lived together for years. Eat it.)

Happened to be flying through Storm Peaks last Thursday doing crusade dailies and saw Vyragosa's corpse laying on the ground (5:30pm as marked) and that's when I decided it was time for the planned last stand against TLPD.

Ok, as mentioned, I have two toons.  A geared lock and a not-so geared pally .healer.)  I had seen that without question Brunn and the Ice Lake were two of the hottest spots by far.  I parked my mains in those two spots.  I used my girlfriend's 80 to patrol areas I wasn't sitting in, otherwise I would sit her in various spots (27,50 .. 27,39 .. The hill at 35,44 .. posts at 41,39 and 45,36 .. around engine at 43,54 and 39,53 .. also parked on the waterfall at 37,75)  I also used my roommate's Ret pally while he was asleep and at work.  He would watch my toons and keep them from going idle while I slept for 2-3 hours a day.  (5 in the middle of the day Monday, way more than I meant to but nothing spawned so it didn't matter.)

I know for sure (was tired Thursday when I started) the 100% coverage of the frozen lake started at 12:05am friday morning.  am, not noon, for those of you who have trouble with that...hehe.. I parked my warlock at the Frozen Lake, directly over the mark that looks like the center where you can see evenly in all 3 directions.  (coordinates above.)  I parked the pally at Brunn, directly over the center of the put about 50 yards up.  Was high enough at the frozen lake to see straight in line over the hills heading to the south.

After two kills in Brunn where I saw it coming off that mountain I actually parked on the edge of the mountain on an outcropping of rock JUST a yard inside the blue chick morph range (to have fun watching the bears.)  (....Fun being as much fun as you can have sitting staring at the came crap when you're looking at the screen.)

When the TLPD spawned it was no more than 12 or 16 yards above me, well within sight range as I believe I mentioned in the kill notes.  Didn't hear the roar like I did a few times when Vyragosa spawned originally.

Now, this whole time I was watching the /who storm peaks list to see who the regulars were.  I started conversations and shared information with several of them.  I also used my roommate's ret pally account to log onto the laptop and took his lvl 59DK to K3 to keep an eye on General and do the same observing of /who storm peaks and also talked with campers / seekers there.

Nobody saw any rares spawn other than my Vyragosa kills.  There were a couple Dirkee kills, but I don't believe (As many don't) that he is related at all to TLPD beyond being rare.  This was from information from at least 12 people on each side of Horde and Alliance.  So I believe without much of a question that I had 100% of the kills starting Friday morning and ending with the TLPD on Tuesday morning.

This is why after this experience of having so many square yards covered, so many people in communication with and the fact I only ever saw anything spawn in those two locations, I believe those are the only two spots Vyragosa spawns.  And having said that, I seriously doubt claims of him spawning over the waterfall or any of the other places that he actually has been recorded on videos patroling through, are actual spawn spots.  Unless of course, you count him coming into view as a "spawn."  And that would fully, without any questions, explain why the path that goes through Brunnhildar is by itself, and all the other paths intersect at the frozen lake.  Because that's his second spawn spot.

This how I got mine after less than 2 days of ACTUALLY spending time there, not just "I'll just loop around quickly before I turn in the daily" type thing.

Bor's Breath. Plain and simple, it'll spawn here probably more often than anywhere else.

NPCScan or ESN_Rare ARE NEEDED FOR THIS.

Hover over the lake. A good height is about even with the nests or a little above the harpies. Rares won't be too high for you to see on the ground, but don't go too high to survive a fall.
EDIT: Skoll's Bor spawnpoint is PERFECT. I've seen 3 of the rares in that one spot, and have shots to prove it.

[b]GO WATCH TV[b/]. Clear your cache as well. Speakers are needed as well. Hook them up and test it so you can hear when the scanner goes off. This is how I found Vyragosa and TLPD in the same day, 7 hours apart.

When you hear the siren, get to your computer FAST. With Skoll out, even more people will be circling, and Bor's Breath can get passed by several people rather quickly.

If not many people are in the area, or you're on a low pop server, fly through the NPC and drag it to the ground. for higher population, or nervous people like myself, scramble towards it and spam an instant cast. I'm a hunter, this was easy. Neither hit hard, neither take 5 people to kill, neither should kill you.

As for me: It was really late at night and I decided to relax by going for a 15 minute walk in the light, cooling rain. When I got back and changed into different clothes, I went back to my computer. I was logged off, so I got back on and put my headphones in and started chatting on vent.

      BAM

NPCScan freaks the hell out of me about a minute after I walked back into my house. There he was. He was all mine now. I get my vent friend to pass me lead and call over my brother, who is in a different room and online, herbing not too far from SP. He bribes me without success, and now I finally have something my older bro wants and doesn't have, which is a great feeling for a 17 year old younger sibling.

----This guide is mainly for people who DO NOT want to look for 12 hours a day, twiddling their thumbs and looking through their spell book. I watched TV till it went off, but doing other stuff online works to. I suggest something without audio, maybe reading FML or ICanHasCheezburer.--- Good luck, you'll need it for this guy.

I've been camping this drake for 12 days on a medium population server, putting in roughly 5-12 hours a day camping and patrolling. My camping times are not in one bulk - they can range from one hour to several hours, and my time tends to be a relatively even split between camping and patrolling.

      ------
      08/09/2009 7:56pm (GMT: 09/09/2009 1:56am)
34,66 - Vyragosa killed. She approached low from the east, flying west along Bor's Breath. On this occasion it is highly probable that Vyra spawned from 35,76.

      10/09/2009 11:15pm (GMT: 10/09/2009 6:15pm)
28,48 - Vyragosa found dead. Found on the Snowdrift Plains.

      10/09/2009 9:05pm (GMT: 11/09/2009 2:05am)
27,60 - Vyragosa found dead. Found in Valkyrion. Most likely spawn location: 31,70.

      13/09/2009 9:00am (GMT: 13/09/2009 2:00pm)
29,67 - Vyragosa killed. Saw Vyra approach the lake at Bor's Breath while camping above it. She was flying diagonally out of the mountain directly from spawn location 31,70.

      15/09/2009 7:45am (GMT: 15/09/2009 12:45pm)
34,66 - Vyragosa killed. She approached low from the east, flying west along Bor's Breath as I was camping above the lake. Decided to follow her on her flight path before killing her, and she flew anti-clockwise around Frosthold. On this occasion Vyra spawned from 35,76.

      15/09/2009 10:50pm (GMT: 16/09/2009 3:50am)
41,64 - Time-Lost Proto Drake found dead. Based on his corpse location, his spawn point was most likely 51,71, possibly 52,34. Time-To Stop Camping. Camped less from this point. :D

      18/09/2009 12:30am (GMT: 18/09/2009 5:30am)
28,79 - Vyragosa killed. She approached low from the east, flying west along Bor's Breath as I was camping above the lake. Tagged her and let her attack me for a bit while my gf flew over and got the kill for her Northern Exposure / Frost Bitten achievement. On this occasion Vyra spawned from 35,76.

      19/09/2009 11:34am (GMT: 19/09/2009 4:34pm)
31,69 - Vyragosa killed. Saw Vyra approach me while camping closely to spawn 31,70. She flew directly out of the mountain from spawn location 31,70, killed at 29,67.

      20/09/2009 12:04am (GMT: 20/09/2009 5:04am)
31,66 - Vyragosa killed. She approached low from the east, flying west along Bor's Breath. On this occasion Vyra spawned from 35,76.

      20/09/2009 1:33pm (GMT:20/09/2009 6:33pm)
36,76 - Time-Lost Proto Drake killed. After buying an item with a few Conquest Emblems, I decided to continue past my Bor's Breath camp spot for a moment, and instead checked the spawn point in Bor's Fall. As I approached, the TLPD came out of the mountain at spawn point 35,76.
      ------

I'd like to make it very clear that from my first hand visual experience, the spawn point 31,70 is 100% confirmed for Vyragosa, and spawn point 35,76 is 100% confirmed for the Time-Lost Proto Drake. Logically I can probably assume both creatures emerge from both spawn points. I think it's highly highly probable that all the points depicted in the video link below are entirely 100% accurate for both Vyragosa and the Time-Lost Proto Drake.

If you camp one/some/all of these spots, you will 100% acquire the reins of this mount, eventually.

Also, if you're on a busy server with a lot of competition, I suggest instead of camping directly above the lake, you camp at 31,67. This is because you'll be closer to covering both 31,70 and 35,76 spawns, and you have a higher chance of NPC Scan going off first and thus reaching the Time-Lost Proto Drake or Vyragosa before anyone else.

The most important TLPD video for TLPD campers:

Good luck everyone! As the other posters have suggested, you WILL get this, if you put in the time and research.

I was farming herbs, when I swooped down to kill a Harpy that was flying around the herb. Then this dude comes down, takes the herb, and whispers "lol owned". So I just typed back the three dots of doom "...".

I flew away, a little pissed.

Bam, right in front of me, the Time Lost Proto. I jumped off my mount and mutilate him in mid air, then took about 85% damage from falling (I probably should have died).

So I popped all of my cooldowns and nuked him in 3 seconds, I was just scared he'd whip out some spell and kill me.

So just for the sake of being a dick, I whispered that person who stole the node and linked him the mount and said "This could of been yours if you didn't take that node from me, thanks man."

He said "FUCK YOU I SPENT 5 DAYS LOOKING FOR THAT LAST MONTH AND COULD NEVER GET IT"

So I typed back "Lolz" just to find that he had me on ignore.

What comes around goes around. Don't be a dick and maybe someday it'll land you SWEET EPICZ.

Wow! Wish I could have that kind of luck. I keep getting everything BUT the green proto from my eggs, and I'm coming up on the 1 year mark for buying them! As for the TLPD, I'm beginning to think it just doesn't exist. Or maybe it doesn't spawn on my server.(Cenarion Circle) I've never seen it alive OR dead. And my wife is beginning to think I'm crazy for getting up in the middle of the night after server restarts...(sigh). Life is cruel! All I want is one friggin' proto drake!!!

The spawn rate is incorrect. I have personally seen TLPD dead within two weeks. The general consensus - allso confirmed by GM is that the spawn rate is 1/16 of Vyragosa - in other words - 6,25% chance of spawning instead of Vyragosa. 4 known spawnspots, 15 min despawn and a timer that is 4 in 24hours -ish. It becomes a very daunting task.

Heres a tip to farm it, just dont. Me (ally) and a horde hunter often flies around looking for it, seen him there so many times so we started to /wave /greet whenever we saw eachother, a little friendly competition for it.

When we finally saw it once, both chasing it, some warrior just flied in aggroed it and got the mount.

H hunter cretaed an ally account /w me and told me that the warrior had no idea it even existed, just got it out of dumb luck.

So dont farm for it, just forget it even exists and you might get it, cause you sure as hell wont ever get it if you actually try to.

Lobotomy is probably the only way of getting it out of your mind - but yeah. Everyone i see with the mount claim to stumble uppon it. Either it is true - or they just say to be damn right mean! Stayed up 24 hours straight yesterday on the icelake that covers three of the routes - and not even Vyragosa showed. I truly and utterly hate Blizz. Too bad I love them too :p

Hours, days even months looking for it. Addons installed and red bull in my veins.

To make this short, one early morning, my addon goes off, it is my sworn enemy, my addiciton, my drug.. TLPD.

Bloodpressure rises, I target him and... Wtf what is this lag? My fps drop to 1, I cant move.

Norton pops up, I die a little inside, hope lost. I finally get to tab back to wow. Only to see an ugly dranei have already tagged it.

Brb, off to Nortons HQ and A-bomb it. :@

OK, I have spent alot of time figuring this out. I might be wrong - but here goes my 5 cents:

There are 23 rare creatures in Northrend, with the ultra rare TLPD being number 24. Each of these creatures are on a 15 minute despawn - and it appears that only one rare can be up at any given time.

With this information - if a rare is killed imediately at spawn, after 15 minutes a new rare will spawn on another location - and so on. If the timer resets imediatly when the rare is killed - the spawn rate will have some variation.

But all in all - that gives an average spawn rate of aprox 6 hours - which from before is pretty much common knowledge. But it could allso stretch to near 12(in theory only).

      How does TLPD fit in?

TLPD is commonly known as a rare spawn of Vyragosa, and indications are that the spawn chance of TLPD is 1/16 of Vyra - in other words - 6,25%. That means that in average 4 times a day - there is a 6,25% chance of TLPD spawning instead of Vyragosa in one of their 4 known spawn places.

With this information - it becomes painfully more obvious that luck is the biggest factor in nailing the drake.

I have about 15 sightings of Vyragosa now - aprox 10 i`ve killed myself, in about 4 weeks and 300-400 hours in total. In that period i`have missed out on TLPD two times(found dead).
The two sightings of TLPD was found with about two weeks apart.

When starting this project i had a dream that it would be possible to camp out and get the drake within a few days or weeks. But it becomes more and more obvious that the odds rely on luck. The only way of exchanging some luck for knowledge is to study the spawn points, and spend alot of time patroling or camping. Luckiy i have insomnia - and can continue my nightime search for the drake - allthough i might go insane while trying.

      EDIT:

03/11 - 0525AM CET - Nordrassil Horde: I finally nailed him!!! I just cant beleive it. About 6 weeks of constant farmin - 10-14 hours a day. Aprox 15 Vyragosas, 4 Dirkees - and then... as if it was the most common thing in the world... TLPD comes cruising down over Valkyrion heading down Bor`s breath at maybe 30-40 yds altitude.

      Exact coords - 32.2*66.2

It was late and I logged out inthere thinking I will start camping it too. at morning when I logged in - BANG - npcscan goes off showing time lost drake . cliked like crazy at the npcscan thingi no targeting . started flying around searching clicking like crazy and thinking maybe its proken and I cant target him by clickyng or the drake was dead and the corpse just dissapeared giving me a warning or what. at boars breath there he was. I was suprised that npcscan took him soo far away. tryied to tag him - too far away jumped off cliff and died trying to tag him. that was like the longest walking back to corpse ever even thou it was rly close it seemed like farest ever. got to corpse and followed the drake trying to find a spot to tag him but he was just too far in the air. at last found spot and moonfire - great tagged. then I discovered my healt was like below half becouse I died . bear form and frenzyed regeneration or whatever. killed it - heart still pumping like hell and still not beleiving my luck.

I got this got this morning at 9:35am. I was looking for him for the first time, and for 30minutes. Then after looking I thought I would never find him, while I was about to log off, he flew right in front of me. I aggroed him fast because on the ground a mage was following him. I killed him in 25'ish seconds since he only had 18k health with my 80 dk. I got the neck piece, 20g and a stack of frostweave cloth from the bag, and the 280% flyer. I was like jumping out of my chair. Also, he'll follow you down if you fly down if you're a melee person. He's pretty easy to solo as well, and I wasn't that geared at all, although I had my ghoul help me. I found him at the Crash Site, north-west in Storm Peaks, north of The Temples of Storms. I was very lucky to get him. So yeah, TLPD is a very rare creature, and is hard to get, I only saw like 3 people on his path. So, not many "campers".

Finally, after months of hunting, camping, searching, etc., the TLPD is mine! Another funny story, though...

I got up at 3:30 AM my time (1:30 AM server time) to camp out for TLPD at Bor's Breath. There was a hunter online camping out for Skoll just above Brunnhildar Village and using a second toon to camp out Skoll's other spawn location. So we made an agreement that if we saw what the other was looking for, we would notify each other. But we didn't have any luck, so we both logged off about 3 hours later.
An hour after that, I logged back on to play and spawned right above Skoll! My friend wasn't online so she lost out but I sent her a letter, telling her what happened.
The next morning, I logged on to see if she had answered me back; I was still hovering at Bor's Breath. She was on and camped out again so I stayed where I was and we chatted back and forth. I flew to the ground to kill harpies and suddenly my NPCscan went off for TLPD! I conjured up my Netherdrake mount and hit the space bar to get airborne but nothing happened. I hit it again...nothing. I'm thinking, "WTF???" It took me a few seconds to realize I still had a chat window open. So I closed it, rose up in the air and looked around but did not see TLPD anywhere. I checked my minimap and realized it was directly above me! So I flew up, attacked, drew agrro, lured it to the ground, killed it and now I have my beautiful mount!!! Best thing is, my friend ended up taming Skoll about an hour later.

The Snowfall Lager worked great. But it surprised me how slowly the TLPD descended. For a split second, I thought I hadn't drawn aggro and it was flying away. Then I realized it was going after my pet. But it was a super easy kill. Don't know if it will help or not but I did the majority of my camping at Bor's Breath, since that's the location with the highest probability of seeing it. (And that's where it spawned for me.) I passed the time doing the Brunnhildar Village daily (chance to get the polar bear mount) and killing the harpies/screechers, whatever. They respawn fairly quickly and the Relics of Ulduar they drop sell very well at the auction house!

Sorry about not listing the server originally. It was Cenarion Circle, which is a west coast server. Kind of messes me up because I'm in central time zone, 2 hours ahead.

Dropped in the engine of the maker area 50,52 - did not know about it, did not look for him and do not have the 300 skill - basic dumb luck.

Agree with the fly to his face to draw aggro then take to grade - easy fight on my "just-turned 80 hunter" with a 2700 gear score.

This one's tough to camp.  3 months ago my alarm went off, I was camping Skoll but the monitor showed TLPD.  I was on the way out of the house, so I never searched to see where (or what) it was.  Once I found out how rare TPD was I decided to camp it.  I have been in Bor's almost every day for 3 months.  Whenever I had something to do I would just float and camp for hours at a time.  In that timeI've seen Vyragosa dead 2x and finally killed her, but never saw TLPD live a second time (I tried 6 12 and 24 hour intervals.  Finally TLPD today he showed up at the Bor's Icefall site at about 7PM Grizzly H server, but I still couln't confirm a spawn time.  My recommendation - try to get lucky - but don't camp.
