I tried to do the Leroy achievement and whilst it was easy to get to the hatchery I just cant see how I can solo kill 50 hatchlings in 15 seconds Has anyone soloed it? DK 80 Blood Spec

Why solo it?

i went into a got or found a group for that and three of us (all DKs) were the only ones left. i was unholy a frend was blood and idk the third guuy. open the door get ur frost to get all of them wile u guys sit there with ur AOEs and youll do it for sure. soloin imo coodnt  b that hard. if u are 80. try goin unholy (if u have that kinda money for a few respecs) and blast the 3or 4 AOEs that u have then switch back to blood. simple as that

The trick is to round them all up without damaging a single hatchling until you are ready to AOE them down.  The timer starts with your first damage, so you can't have any shield, barrier, or buff that does any damage.  Can it be soloed?  Sure, with the right class, as obviously AOE is needed.  My balance druid had as easy job of it as I could heal myself while rounding them up, then starfall, hurricane..
Could it be done with a DK?  I'm not sure.  Rounding them up wouldn't be the problem, but AOE'ing them down while starting with zero runic power might be hard...

I hear what you say, I had another go but 15 seconds is just too short a time frame. I will group up next time , I just thought my army of teh dead would slaughter them all but they all attacked one at a time, It was just not time efficient. If they had gone for separate targets I might have tooth-less parroted it ( suck seed ed).

depends on your class/spec
if your class/spec has no aoe attack, forget soloing
if you cant take 50 punches at the same time, forget it


ive done that about 8 times now with different groups

best thing to do is let everyone wait outside
two tank walk a short circle and bring back around 30-35 mobs

eggs hatch on proximity, do not attack the mobs

one healer stands ready to heal, but should wait until its needed (since this also starts the 15 sec)

tanks should keep an eye on each and should try to avoid running solo back since people are trigger-happy and will start regardless of your fine instructions.

anyway .. both tanks should come back more or less the same time
and if done proper both should have 30-35 mobs so the total should be guaranteed over 50

everyone aoe the place down and tanks get a heal

should not take more as 10 seconds to pull (this does not start the timer yet untill the first heal/attack) and 5 seconds to kill and this way you still have a couple seconds to spare should someone mess it up :)


(ofc.. you can solo it as well depending on gear/level/class)

Do it as frost if you wanna solo...run in pop your CDs and once you get them all gathered up Spread some diseases D&D use Deathchill and Howling blast...if you can do it fast enough you should be find (make sure you can get some death runes)

I've done it, DK lvl 80 blood spec - and it was solo with no problem...
First frost pres, than run around, opening egs and gathering all mobs in 1 place, after that D&D plus army of death, after 5s it was done...I nearly died, but heck, with 2% of health achive was earned...

pally is great for that run.easy and can aoe to round them up.

pally is great for (insert anything here)

watch project lore..they show you how can get the achievement..its easier if you have an aoe and a 2nd person in your group to round them up all in one spot..easier to do of course at a high level

I dont c what all the fuss is about i solo with lvl 75 lock demon morph easy

no prob,jus Solo'd with my DK in frost tank spec but with my Dps gear jus gathered them up used hungering cold which gave them frost fever then D&D and army plus blood boil+howling blast an im a "Jenkins" xD

Did this a few weeks ago as a frost mage.  Just got them all after me then summoned water elemental and hit ice block so they all surrounded me.  Then a second before it ended i used my elemental to freeze them all in place and hit them with cone of cold then used frost nova and put up my ice barrier again then hit them with arcane explosions till they died.
Originally tried to blink away instead of using cone of cold and then doing blizzard...after getting disconnected for the fifth time after trying that i used the above strategy.  Not sure if this was a temporary problem or if its still going because i tried this just after a patch.  Repair ended up costing me about 50g though because i died after each disconnect

could i use my minion to hatch them instead of having a second person help me??

No, at least not when I tried about 10 months ago. The eggs are not attackable. You have to walk over them, to break them.  Also, if you're level 80, sometimes, if you walk away too fast, you don't aggro the whelps and have to go back to get them. Fortunately, the eggs re-spawn. So you can retry this without going out and resetting the instance repeatedly.
