Tankadin? Can't only paladins be considered Tankadins?

Before the addition of Thunderstomp to all Tenacity pets in 3.1.0, we called gorillas tankadins because their AoE threat plus damage was like the unstoppable tankadins who would often hold aggro on scores of mobs and rock the damage meters with their Consecration. Throw in the hunter HoT (Mend Pet) and it was really like having a personal tankadin.

Thanks for the explanation, I was wondering why a gorrila was being called a tankadin.
Even so, Im offended. I play a prot pally myself and I really dont like being compared to an ape.......lol
Ive done MGT and H MGT about 20 times over all, I have not seen the mount or the pet drop. If he gets it on this run.... im gonna be really ticked.
why does this have "soloing" in the name? confused me :(
i went into MGT on my prot pally just now, got all the way to KT, but i dont think its possible to kill KT on heroic solo. his pyroblast still hits for about 30k.
any tips on soloing maybe?
its possible, i've done it cant remember how i may have had a little fire resist, blow a Shield CD for the first pyro, and probably get ready for LoH on the 2nd. you shouldnt take more than 2, use Judgement of light and Seal of light, Glyph with Glyph of Avenger's shield, and Excorcism, for more single target dps. and i'm quite certain u have to kill atleast the first Phoenix and egg.
hope this helps
This isn't soloing. Soloing is 1 person in the instance. It's not possible to solo this on heroic.
i remember way back when, on my retadin (in great gear) got those shoulders and moved onto SSC... the good days... :D
And the thing that made me stop watching this video half way through was all the guy's comments (the one playing the hunter) he's trying to be funny... its not working...
This
Okay, several things made this video seem very unprofessional, even though the gear was decent to great, the skill was not... why the hell would a surv hunt be spamming volley? The battles would go faster using ba,ss,es,as,(black arrow, serpent sting, explosive shot, aimed shot) if you are specc'd for raiding.
Another thing was the use of the term "Tankadin" on a friggin gorilla... Now, i have a prot pally, and this offended me highly D;.

Actually, everyone I know called them gorilladins (a term either coined by or popularized by Big Red Kitty) because, prior to all tenacity pets acquiring the Thunderstomp ability, they were the AOE tank pet. Tankadins are Pallies. Gorilladins are like Pallies, but with more body hair and banana breath.
Personally, I now prefer my bear (bearadin?) for AOE tanking because of the family ability Swipe.
I agree that he should have used those abilitys if he wanted to do more damage, but then he would just over aggro all the time
The Shammy at least seems to know what he's doing. That Dorkin guy really doesn't seem to know his class too well, let alone game terms. Anything-adin is a pally, period. It doesn't matter what some hunters were mistakenly calling their pets, the "adin" suffix is for the PalADIN class. If you're running the current "raiding spec" for a hunter and you have 3 mobs on you point blank, Volley is not your answer. You want to do that, L2respec to MM and have no push-back on the channel. And if you are engaged in a fight with your pet tanking and you are getting close to pulling agro, FD!!! Don't keep shooting and pull agro off the pet. Oh and since Dorkin was still getting rep for the boss kill at least (if not others, didn't notice it until then), I would say he isn't as experienced as he tries to sound. Most every player I know that was active in BC took the time to get their SSO rep up and made decent money in the process doing daily quests and opening Sunwell for their server. Where was this guy? I'm guessing it was his idea to put "soloing" in the title too.
All in all it was a well made vid. Since it seemed important for someone to get the guy playing Dorkin some camera time, I like that they eventually put the box at the lower right corner with him (regardless of what I think of his skills). He does at least talk well, isn't camera shy (like Juggy), and was trying to explain things as best he could. This looks to be "a bit" old though since Dorkin was still using an ammo bag and had never seen anyone swap over to their Dual Spec. But it IS recent enough that he can call a stabled pet. ...didn't that happen same patch as the ammo bags going away? Almost sounds to me like he didn't read all the patch notes... Whatever, I would watch more of these (if I bothered to find them) if they were put out, if only to rag on Dorkin more.

Only one thing to point out here, Yes ammo puches no longer give the ranged haste, but hey, they're still large, so its like carrying a mining bag or skinning bag and the like. Yes, it occupies a bag slot, but then you can carry a lot more projectiles
Well,I did this Heroic.. 2 Times, And i got the Hawkstrider,So, im happy
Is he lagging or is it just me?

Tried to do this with a friend I am dual specced hunter, BM and SV and he is dual specced warrior Arms and Prot. We found that it was pretty much impossible to do this instance on heroic without a healer, even with über gear it will be too hard to be fun. :S
I know WOTLK holds great content for lving but ilse of Quel' danas is still pretty good
Its going to take forever until you get the mount!
check out wowHobbs in youtube his a lv 80 pally and he has the the Swift White Hawkstrider
This is possible on Heroic solo as a tanking class that has self heals (ex: Druids, DK's, Pallies). However Kael is still a rough fight for some solo. The object of the fight is to DPS race him to second phase (floating phase) before he casts his pyroblast. Druids will have a rough time because they have minimal spell damage mitigation, but it is possible with a little luck and maybe some fire resistance (Kael's fireballs still hit for around 4k with just MoTW, and will melt you down before you can get him to phase 2... unless he misses). If you can get him to phase 2 its cake from there provided you have enough mana to pop a few heals. dodge the balls and nuke him when he takes his short break.
It is possible, yes, but I strongly recommend taking someone along. The drop rate on the mount has been increased, and hey, you can have some fun!
Fireballs are bad, yes, but not all tanking classes have a panic button for pyroblast, like pallies that can just bubble out of it. Im not sure if a feral druid popping Surv Instincts with GotW can survive that. It does hit for well over 40k. That followed by a quick melee and/or pyroblat spells death. Its a whole lot easier when you have someone along
Anther one bites the dust.....
whats the add on that reads out the names of the atttacks and spells your doing?
I must agree with the above posters saying that this was very unprofessional. But then again, Project Lore isnt the place you go to to get your Raid strat videos anyway. They're doing Naxx videos at a time when they really should be doing Ulduar videos. I respect that not everyone gets to the highest tiers in the game (Heck I started playing way after sunwell came out and the first time I raided was Kara a week or two before Lich King came out), but there are other sources that have already posted video strats of almost everything that is available in game currently. My guess is that Lore's videos are targetted to the more casual players.
I mean, compare Lore's videos to those of Tankspot. Tankspot is far more concise and accurate with almost every detail of a fight while Lore's videos showcase trash mobs, with hardly to no coverage of a boss strat. In fact, Lore isnt ABOUT boss strats, its a video walkthrough. Again, before anyone starts a flame with regards to this, I have NOTHING against them, Im just trying to look at it from another point of view i.e. the casual WoW player.
Having never levelled a hunter to 80, I may not know the class inside out, but what I DO know is that hunters should DEFINITELY not be meleeing mobs (leave that to melee DPS), or really have any threat when they have a tenacity pet. Given, raiding specs are all about damage and no points should be spent on levelling talents that help control threat and so on, but then again, FD exists for a reason. If all else fails, STOP SHOOTING! The Juggy fellow knows what the pulls are like and sounds like he knows what he was doing in there. The hunter on the other hand sounded like he was doing the hardest ever 5-man in the game's history for the first time. (why??? H MGT was the most challenging instance ever!)
Also, replying to other posters, here are some strats that I personally use to farm it with my gf.
We use one of three setups.
Rogue and Holy priest - Granted the rogue takes a LOT of damage, but the priest can keep two people up with no trouble. Also, PoM is OP for the third boss where aggro is a pain to hold due to the immense amount of CC, stuns, dispells and roots that the 5 man boss loves to do (It's a group of 5 bosses that pull together. 4/5 of them are randomized, with the 5th always being there). The Final Fight against Kael'Thas is a joke because a rogue can EASILY beat him down to 50%, starting the second phase, before the first pyroblast.
THe biggest con here is that although the boss fights arent too hard, the max we can pull is one set of trash at a time.
Prot Pally and Holy Priest - Mass chain pulls, almost zero damage until of course the third boss again (aggro issues, utter chaos, and cant kill bosses as fast as a rogue can). Kael is easy enough however. Here again, there are two options.
1.) Pally pops Divine protection while both the priest and pally beat the living Bejesus out of Kael and the pally just holds the Phoenix. This means ZERO heals and a slim chance of not getting the pyroblast.
2.) Both DPS the boss with the priest healing whenever necessary. There is no way you can beat him to 50% here. So, when he casts pyroblast, bubble about halfway into the cast, and cancel it right after he finishes. (He will still cast it on the pally, but switch to the other target after he finishes)
Ret Pally and DK - No comments. Self heals, Immense DPS. What more can you ask for? This is the best and fastest setup you can use.
We have a lot of toons between us, and we try to get the mount on all of them hence our variety of setups.
Classes that you should NOT try Soloing H MGT with.
ANY class that cannot heal themselves. The only exception are DKs who seem to be the exception to the rule of non-healing classes being unable to solo anything that isnt 40 levels beneath them.
soloed on my feral druid. after 8 solo runs I got the mount to drop. last boss you just go into cat form and use berserk till your low on life and switch to bear form to heal up. dont bother with the add till after he goes into the 2nd stage.
It's not soloing with 2 people... it's 2-manning. And shamans make great tanks.
And I can't stand watching videos with alliance lol
what is the hunters name cuz i wanna no what he has on his guy mena the addons and shit
Heroic MgT is soloable by an enhance shaman (I did it in most pre-Uld best in slot gear).
Hex is definitely your friend and you can skip a lot more mobs than you think. For the first bosses room if you are unable to down the groups pop your earth ele, use wolves on the boss.
Second bosses room I found it easiest to kite the packs of mana wyrms using earthbind and magma totem and just running around the first bosses room. Wolves should be up again by the time you get to the boss, I usually kill 3-4 of the sparks then burn the boss using maelstrom weapon to heal if necessary.
Getting to the arena boss can suck, but if you are careful you can sneak past every mob in the room prior to an including the bosses room - just avoid the pats and stick to the left wall.
Third boss itself can be a pain, I usually hex the Naga warrior because his charge is annoying. Grounding totem, wolves, bloodlust etc. Just make sure you KEEP a tremor totem down. (And when starting the instance you can check to see what third boss setup you have by looking off the balcony, just run out and reset if you don't like the setup).
For Kael himself I usually wait for my wolves to be off cooldown (I generally use them on the aoe pull in his room, or if I'm really impatient I just kite them around), keep a grounding totem down and burn as quick as possible. As a decently geared enhance shaman with wolves out you should have no problem getting him before the pyroblast. I also generally kill the phoenix because it's fireballs are annoying, and he doesn't have much hp.
And I'm really sorry if any of this is mentioned in the vid, it's 2am here and I'm not exactly awake >.<
But hey, 3 orbs, 4 Phoenixs and 72 runs later I finally got my mount! ^.^
Just curious: I followed the link to Dorkins on wowamory, and I was wondering... why does he not have a neck piece or gloves, and why is all his durability at 0?
im a hunter and i dont have call stabled pet.. why ? :(
perhaps you are too low lvl for stabled pets. If not go back to trainer or check spell book to see if you forgot to put into action bar.
