Not sure if this quest is well know but if you are on it and can't find the circle of stones where to summon aquementas the loc is 70,49.
Make sure the supplies you were given are in your bag separately- take them out of the supplies pack so you can use the book to summon and so the items can be transformed. I killed him twice and nothing happened until i notice i only took the book out.
Lvl 54 elemental is summoned- he throws u into the air sometimes but you must stay in the circle of stones so make sure you're really close to him. Not an elite so fairly easy to kill... I'm a warlock lvl 53 - used the voidwalker who got all of the elementals attention - so it wasn't too hard. 1 on 1 fight nothing else aggroing.
Hope this helps.
On the map where it says Caverns of Time, there is a cave entrance marked, the circle of stones is straight east of the cave entrance, on the east side of the mountain
You don't have to kill the guy. Just stay in the circle. As soon as you see the messages below in General, your quest will be completed and you can... run, if you do this quest at a level where Aqqy might be dangerous.
Aquementas begins to cast a powerful spell.
Aquementas transforms the items into a totem.
You create: Silver Totem of Aquementas.
I killed the elemental as lvl 53 hunter, placed a fire trap before summoning.
But I had to feighn death once to heal myself, but my pet could hold him with no problems!
Interesting. The peninsula is a peninsula of mountain (foothills, actually) that sticks out into the water south of the pirate encampment. On the north side of that foothill is a small valley, and the circle is at the end of the valley.
Thanks for all the other posts. Aquementas was a little tougher than I had planned and he killed my 51 Druid just before I would have killed him but the transformation worked anyway, once I had reclaimed my corpse. Before that, tne quest registered complete but I couldn't find the totem. After rezzing, it was there.
he was really easy at lvl 55 by the time i got around to actually doing the quest, he never punted me once
I just gave it a shot with my 48 hunter;
-Summoned Aquementas
-Pet aggroed him
-Tried a few shots with my gun (missed most)
-I got aggro
-Pet got aggro back
-Pet died
-I got aggro again
-Used Feign Death
-Item made & Aquementas despawned
Either its a bug or the item gets created when the battle ends and without you dying, if thats the case then Feign Death is a nice workarround :)
Pet needs to be dead or dismissed ofcourse otherwise the battle will still go on.

For those who didn't get it, "Eastmost Peninsula is the Secret" is a quote from Legend of Zelda from the NES lol. I cracked up when I read it. In Level 1 castle you find an old man who tells you this. He's telling you that the Triforce piece for this level is in the Eastmost Peninsula of the castle you're in.
<3 Zelda. <3 Blizzard for <3ing Zelda lol
The secret's when you go north through the wall of the spot south of the northeastern corner. When you walk through the wall, you'll find an old man who gives you 100 Rupees (or the bait / key / blue ring shop in the 2nd quest). That's what I thought the old man was referring to. I never considered the letter-to-the-old-woman to be a secret; the cave's easily accessable walking up the ladder.
And besides; the screen with the hidden 100 rupee cave IS a peninsula. It's surrounded by water on three sides. =)
(The Legend of Zelda for the NES if you have no idea what I'm talking about).
Oh, and to top it off, 'Aquamentus' is the boss of level 1, which is where the old man tells you about the secret on the easternmost peninsula.
Uh, I summoned Aquementas in the circle, but then I tried clicking the bag to take out the items, and it said "That would be stealing", and the bag disappeared. Now I only have the book in my inventory.

Same thing happened to me, it said "you do not have permission to loot that corpse" and the bag disappeared. I have to go get more claws now dont I?

I am a lvl 50 warrior and i did this quest alone, all i did was to summon Aquementas he made the totem it went right in my bag and i took off to finish the quest with out killing him.
Ok had to go back and get 11 more claws and go back thru, make for sure you have it all unpacked BEFORE summoning Aquementas or you wont get the totem.

hes very easy to kill. me (49 pally) and a 48 rogue killed him pretty fast, only had to heal the rogue once or twice. if your 52+ you should have no problem soloing it. theres no summoned guys or anything.
Looked at 70'49 no circle of stones.

I'm a 49warrior that lost the solo fight. If you unpack the bag before you summon him it doesn't matter if you live or not. In fact I think I made the item as soon as I summoned him and could have just left the fight behind me, but I wasn't paying that close attention.
yust swim past all the pirates and then walk into a litle bay you can see a cople of stones in a sircle form quite easy
cords:70.50
Anyone who is lvl 51 or higher should have no problem soloing this guy.Just make sure all of the items are unpacked prior to the summon as others stated and you will have no problems getting the totem..
Coordinates are 70:49 and the circle is highly recognizable when you see it.
I completed this quest easily as a 54 mage.
He is, as everyone above has been posting, at 70, 49. The circle of rocks is behind the hills near the pirate cove.
He is a water elemental, and immune to frost/ice spells. Thought that would be helpful to any mages that need to kill him ;)
Can someone say how to get the quest for him?
Ok check this out! The circle, is not in the water. I spent about an hour looking around for a circle of rocks in the water, I mean the guy is a water elemental right??? Just south of the fence at the pirate stronghold is the valley, head due west of the foothill protruding into the water, thats right west to the hills! You'll see the circle of rocks! I mean how stupid is this??? I am a lvl 53 Warrior and I smoked this Aquementas and I still had 3/4 hp left. I cant believe the directions on this one. Sad assed! Thatnks for some of you guys for at least pointing me somewhat in the right direction. After reading everyones comments several times, I was able to piece this gem together!
yeah, i definitely had to read the comments more than once! haha
Some people say he's at 70.49 some say 70.50 where is he???

yeah...those two co-ords are SO far between...
L2P noobie

there is a ring of stones at 70,50.
more like a swirl of stones.
like a dreamcast emblam of stones.
stand in it and have all the stuff taken out of the
supply bag and in your inventory.
then use the book.
the elemental will spawn. kill it while INSIDE the circle.
i dont know if you guys realized this or not, but you dont have to kill him, just summon him and run away
first when i completed the pre quest i got this bag with 3 items in it...
i unpacked the book but left the rest inside
few hours later i arrived at the circle then i tried to unpack the rest but it suddendly said, u have no permission to loot this corpse and the bag dissapeared...
nothing else to do then abandon and reactive i guess..
Killed with lvl 50 mage no probs.
This circle took me forever to find, the other comments said all this different stuff so i got confused, basically after reading them all a couple of times, one you walk through the cave to enter Lost Rigger Cove go along the coast line untill you get to the warf, swim around the 2 ships at the warf and walk past the ship thats being built, then u will get to a fence and a cannon, follow that fence untill it stops there should be palm trees around you, and if you keep walking straight ahead...a teensy bit to the left is the circle of rocks which looks more like a swirl when you get closer to it, summon the elemental, either kill him or run off and your done :)
52 frost mage that found out a little late that nothing I specialize in works on him lol... but since it's done as soon as you summon him, now worries...
Just did this q today wiv my 53 shammy (alli). piece of piss. put up all my totems, summoned him, put on fire dot, and killed him in about 6 secs. he doesn't actually drop anything; as soon as you kill him the quest is complete.
Have fun.
I am a level 51 Pally. Dropped this guy with 1900 health left. didn't need to heal or use any potions.
The circle is straight East of where it says CoT on your map. Just go into Lost Rigger Cove and find your way to that spot, its inland by the side of the mountain. I killed him with no prob (53 balance druid), but like everyone else said, you dont have to, just have to unpack everything first and then summon him and quest is done.
However, the silvery claws and heart thing are still in my bag, are they still needed? or should I just trash them?
He's real easy, even for a Frost mage. Fireballs DO still work after all :D
Frost Ward + ice barrier + fireballs or Scorch, he'll be dead before he can touch you.
Just be sure you take ALL the items out of the bag first.
I soloed it as a lvl 51 Arcane Mage. It wasn't too difficult, but if you're a mage you really only need to remember to have Ice Armor on and not use any water-based spells as he is immune to them.
Also, you don't actually have to kill Aquementas in order to get the totem.
I had trouble finding the stones at first, but when I went up a bit north of the outside of the camp, I found the stones there. They are shaped in a spiral, 'golden ratio', pi. :D
I added a nice screenshot of him too. Just a big water elemental. I did him at 58 as a undead rogue. Pretty easy actually.
Great continuous Nes Zelda references from Linken. LMAO!!! One after the other all the way to the end of the chain quest. I grew up with Zelda 1 when it first came out. The game hypnotized me instantly as a kid.
Good work representing old school gaming Blizzard.
For once, you have my salute on a job well done!
For those of us that had the knapsack disappear after summoning Aquementas (and weren't smart enough to read the previous posts about emptying EVERYTHING OUT OF IT FIRST, just like I didn't), you simply need to recollect 11 silvery paws and the irontree heart. The totem required appears in your inventory after you slay Aquementas. Oh well. Thanks to everyone else who posted the helpful info. Enjoy...
The circle of stones is south of the pirate camp near the mountains. Open the pack given to you and loot, read the book and bam he spawns. Wait until he gets to the circle and then it should say that you've received the totem, you do not need to kill him, and you dont get xp for the kill.
were do u get this quest? i love a good challenge and it would be awsome for me to kill him.
Lvl 48 Tauren Hunter Dragonblight
it's a long chain starting in un'goro
This part of the quest is BUGGED. If you don't take the crap out of the little bag you are given before you summon aquamentas he won't transform the item and the claws and heart you farmed will disappear. Since farming those is the shittiest part of the quest it's probably a good idea to take the items out of the bag.
So do I unpack the items first? And do I have to kill this sucker?
yes unpack items first and no you don't hav to kill him but you can if you want. unlootable though so not much point
I soloed him at lvl 50 as a hemo rogue, potted but didn't really need to survived at 40% poped evasion though but not a big problem at all.
easy. beat him as a level 51 paladin and only had to bubble-heal once
