but if you come in via the service entrence, he'l yell intruders and run back in, then you'l find him right before baron's slaughterhouse.

There seems to be 2 locations you can fight him, and they allegedly depend on which door you come in.

If you enter the Main Entrance, at the first fork in the road, the right passage is blocked by a gate that requires the key. If you unlock that gate, does it scare of the Magistrate from his position near the Church?  Can you continue heading right until your reach the room with the service entrance and fight the Magistrate right there and get a key drop?  Can someone confirm of deny this?

Unlocking this gate appears to be the fastest route to getting other players keyed.

Wow, this guy actually has a back-story. He's in the book "Of Blood & Honor".

The ambitious paladin who served under Tirion Fordring at Mardenholde Keep, Barthilas' parents were murdered in the Second War and he was ordained a paladin just as the war was ending. Vexed at not being able to avenge his parents firsthand, Barthilas had cultivated a festering hatred of all orcs as a young man.

When Tirion was found attacked, Barthilas immediately assumed that it had been an orc, and began to scour the countryside for a force of them.

After Barthilas discovered that Tirion had protected the orc, he oversaw every stage of the paladin's degradation. After Tirion was exiled, Barthilas made every effort to ensure that the orc, Eitrigg, was humiliated and brutalized during his execution, and was horrified when the orc was saved.

Barthilas begrudgingly assumed his new position as head of Mardenholde.

    Apparently, that didn't last long.

Tirion can be found between West and East Plaguelands, north along the river that divides the two. Eitrigg can be found in Thrall's chamber in Orgrimmar.

Quite possibly one of the easiest mini-bosses in Strat-Baron and one who has a very solid loot table, most importantly, the key.  Still, after Maleki and Baroness have dropped a shadow bow and crappy cloth, it's always nice to see a mob like Magistrate drop *solid items* for a variety of classes.

18k Armor in dire bear form is NOT good gear.  Go to google and look up the Druid tank guides.  They all contain lists of gear you can get solo or mostly solo and it gets you to 25,000 armor easy.

If you're going to try and solo him as a druid, know that it's a pretty hard fight because although he doesn't have a ridiculous amount of health, he does hit pretty hard, and you'll most likely need to pop out and heal at some point, and during that window is where you'll probably face problems.

I thought I'd go into Stratholme today and get the Piccolo of the Flaming Fire.  I tried to get in the back door and realized I had never gotten the Key to the City on that character (my 70 restoration druid).  So, I'd go kill the Hearthsinger then sneak over and attempt the Magistrate.

It took me about eight attempts, but I finally managed.  Hit regrowth, immediately after sit and drink to get that little bit of mana back, then moonfire him, faerie fire him, rejuvenate, lifebloom, and go bear form (don't even try cat form, he hits like a truck).  Reduce his attack power as your first step in bear form, then lacerate him five times and maul him as many times as you can before your health reaches about 50%.  Lacerate him again to refresh it, then bash him, put all three HoTs on yourself, and get back into bear form.  Immediately refresh that Lacerate, then keep mauling him until your regrowth finally runs out.

Here's where luck comes into play.  You won't have bash back, so you'll have to pop out, Barkskin to reduce the damage a little bit, and do your HoTs.  If you're lucky, he won't use his pummel move that  prevents you from healing and will no doubt kill you.  If and when you managed to get your HoTs back on, use innervate and get back in bear form, lacerate him up, and repeat using the bash technique until he's dead.  Nature's Swiftness might help if you find yourself low on health coming out of bear form and don't want to risk getting interrupted, but like I said, I'm a resto druid.

My final attempt came right down to the wire, with him at 2% health and me out of mana and in my final shot at bear form.  I finished him off with about 5% health and was a little more than ecstatic, since I got my piccolo on the same run.  :)

If you had read his post correctly (instead of jumping at the chance to assert your supposed superior knowledge of the game), you would have realized that he was qualifying his statement of using Nature's Swiftness by mentioning he's a Resto druid, and therefore has a talent that other druids (Balance and Feral) do not.

What worked for me was to start out by casting a regrowth, 3 lifeblooms, then shift to bear at charge range. Immediate faerie fire, charge, then demoralizing roar. Lacerate/Mangle/Maul til he's dead.

Oh, after in melee I backed myself up against a wall so he couldn't punt me into mobs.

If you're trying to solo him as a balance druid with quest greens and blues, here's a strategy that worked for me. Start out outside the room, at max range, in moonkin form. Starfire, moonfire, insect swarm, and wrath, force of nature, a couple more spells, bash him in bear form, start to run, switch to cat and dash into the corner of the church, heal, back to moonkin to dps him down the rest of the way. Occasionally I have to health pot. Killed him every time (8 attempts) so far with less than 8k health.

(I'm getting tanking gear, if you're wondering what the point is)

Trinket for extra dmg. While he's hitting pet I'm getting in unterrupted nukes. Iceblock if I pull aggro. Cold snap. Second pet while I start to kite. I just run back and icelance, fireblast, CoC blink. Ice Block to put him back on pet. After that it's just keep moving. Put up ice barrier when you can't get away. Health pot as necessary. The key is to get hit as little as possible obviously. Having Boar's Speed or Minor Speed on your boots helps a lot.

The magistrate frequently enrages, which stacks up to 25 times. A full stack means his attack power is increased by 375 (or 425, can't remember which) and his attack speed is increased by 100%. It puts you in a very bad situation.
