I'd love to get the SF for 30g.  Currently it's going for 115g+ on my server.

the +1-4 Shadow Damage means that the weapon hits for 1-4 unblockable Shadow Damage per hit not that it would increase shadow damage spell power or anything like that, so actually its quite useful.

my twink faces quite a few rogues with that and the sf also has chance on hit to send a shadowblot at any, also that wepon crits for alot more than cruel barb. Sf is better than a cruel barb and if u like ambush/bakstabb when u unstealth switch from a crappy daggeer to Sf and u will own if u have good enchant

I'll answer your statements quickly and in order:


First, get stance sets, only time u want assassin's blade in mainhand is for ambush, kty.

Secondly, u obviously can't read that the SF has more dmg with it's shadow dmg...and wow it's not added to spells, it's another 4-8 dmg that is shadow damage, not added to shadow spells -_-

Thirdly look at number 2...this give it more dps, plus the proc = even more kty.

that's y u buy the sf...and u are lucky if u can fine one at 30g, I have a friend who paid 600g for one.

I'm going to have to disagree with you for a number of reasons.

Firstly, you can only have SF in main hand (bummer if you want to use a dagger in main such as assassin's blade from SFK) which also means you can duel wield CB.

Dagger rogues are gimped at level 19, as you can't put points into a good dagger spec.  You'll get more overall burst dps from sinister striking.

Secondly, CB has a higher damage range (30-57) so that means your sinister strike does more damage anyway. the DPS difference may look huge, but actually SF is only 0.1 seconds faster and has a dmg range of (29-55) so all in all I think the difference is deceptive.

The + nature damage is what gives it the difference, so technically it's range is ~33-63.

Thirdly, CB gives you +12 attack power which increases your DPS by 1.9, giving a total of 17.4.
The bonus for the SF (+ 4-8 Shadow damage) gives no use to a rogue whatsoever.

The + attack power doesn't add it on to the weapon itself.  It increases your overall dps, so it's base DPS is still 15.5 - and using an Assassin's Blade would give you almost as much added attack power (+7 AP, along with 0.84% chance to dodge and 0.42% chance to crit).  And the +4-8 shadow damage ignores all armor - I don't know what you're talking about when you say it's of no use to a rogue.

Lastly, the drop rate on CB is about 10% compared with the 0.01 for the SF.

That's like saying Sulfuras, Hand of Rag is worse than The Unstoppable Force because it's harder to get.

If you're trying to become a real twink, money shouldn't be a deciding factor in your gear.  But then again, the majority of twinks out there are wannabes =D

On my 19 twink rouge, i am currently duel weilding 2 CB and i was wondering if i should get the SF from the AH.
Now that i read this i think i will just stick with my 2 barbs instead of spending 200g on a SF.

Shadowfang is better.

(I know i am replying to a post from a long time ago)but +4-8 shadow damage actually does do something for a rogue it is damage that is that is not affected by armor.

FYI the drop rate of SF if less than .002% so i wuld rather fork out 50+ gold for it then spend endless hours farming the instnace get ur facts right
