I agree with silanas... Look around on petopia and it will tell you everything you ever want to know about beasts, pets and skills. I play a lvl 34 hunter and I've had my night saber from teldrassil all this time. But I didn't realize I had to tame other beasts to learn skills to teach my own pet... Now I do and I have to go unlearn all his skills and restructure them.

BTW, those of you who want to teach your pet Prowl (Rank 1) should go the Southshore (Hillsbrad Foothills), follow the stream north to Alterac Mountain and tame a Mountain Lion there. It's only lvl 33-34. Just beware of an elite dragon in the area. He's a rare spawn but I've seen him a couple of times already. And he teleports to you so definitely be careful.
