Nope, no longer affects melee chance to hit. Fixed according to the patch notes.

Elemental Sharpening stones no longer effect ranged chance to crit, either.

=] the other mistake dealing with related items remains working fine (gogo druids), at least in 1.10.

Btw... how useful is +3% to hit? It seems like with gear like giantstalker and don julio's band you'd have near the amount of hit% you'd want.... would +7 damage be better?

  Using this instead of the +7 you can replace some of your +hit with +crit and thus boost your damage way beyond +7.
  
  Also, at some fights you have to use resistance gear, and they generally don't have +hit, so you'll end up missing alot.
  
  It's especially useful on the Huhuran fight where you're required to have a lot of NR gear to soak damage while using tranqulizing shot. A few misses there can mean a wipe, since she does quite a lot of damage when enranged.

if it only affects ranged chance to hit. then why did blizzard give this enchant to the premade warrior on the test realms and not the hunter?

The accurascope becomes more useful when attacking boss mobs that are many levels above you. At level 60 with maxxed out ranged weapon skill, the chance to miss another level 60 is seems to be around 99%. When attacking a level 70 boss mob however, even with maxxed weapon skill accuracy can easily drop to 95%. At this point adding +3% chance to hit is much more effective than +7 damage.

(300 dmg + 7 dmg)*(0.95) = 291.65 dmg (avg)
(300 dmg)*(0.95 + 0.03) = 294 dmg (avg)

So, I would recommend an accurascope for 40 man raids, but for PvP the added damage may come out to be more useful.

your hits may be hard, but if they miss the target its no good

the fact is that when u are gonna make / use this probably on a big epix ranged, this mean your guild is running some 40man istance, and u alredy have many items that give u chanche to hit so maybe u wont really need this if u have +4%-+5% from gear

On Molten giants/destroys and firelords and all other trash in mc I have missed more then once and not just auto shots ive had a few missed aimed shots which it makes 3% chance to hit Majorly worth while cuz you never know if that aimed shot that missed was a 2k crit.

You can't "miss a 2k crit", because crit always hit, unless you have more crit chances than hit chances. A miss always is a "non critical miss"

Either you're playing with a real endgame gear and already managed to reach 5/7 % +hit (zg enchant*2, ds spaulders, ds leggings, onyxia's pendant, don julio or accuria, true flight wrstguards...), which means you're not gaining a full 3% to hit ;
either you're playing with an average gear, and should be waiting for a few more loots (especially gs gauntlets) unless you already have lok'delar, and your guild REALLY doesn't need those precious lava cores.

this is where you are WRONG.
I quote Blizzard: "Biznicks 247x127 Accurascope now only affects ranged attacks".
This was from the 1.10 patch notes.

On boss mobs, you have an 83% chance to hit. On level 60s, you have a 95% chance to hit. Yes, you need a whopping +16% chance to hit to max out on boss mobs. This scope is better for everyone using a ranged weapon, but is in no way worth it for a melee class.

your miss rate increases with the level of the mob, up to raid bosses (which are classed as level 63)

to get a 100%hit rate you need 8.66%hit in total. any more than this is pointless and uneeded. This value is easier to round up to 9%.

weapon skill gives 0.25%hit (and 0.2%crit) per point over 300 I think, if any1 is interested (not 100% sure on this though)

now, as im sure alot of you are aware we shoot tranq shot on a few bosses, missing = bad news, so you should aim for 9% hit so that you are reliable as possible(tranq can still fail)

this scope is better than a +7 scope if you are lack 2 or more +hit (i.e. if you have 7 or less)

also, dont forget, slower weapons offer better dps, BUT +7scope on slower weapons offers a smaller dps increase.

so you chooce, yes it is expensive but also very useful if used correctly.

Above poster is incorrect. In order to test this, I leave a combat log up that only records misses. I don't have a screenshot of it, but with +7% to hit I ran all of AQ40 up to and including Huhuran, and all of BWL up to and including chromaggus. My combat log did not record a single miss.

Also, 1 weapon skill = .04% to hit and +.04% to crit, per point above the target's defense skill. Therefore, the miss rate on a level 63 mob should be 5.6%. I haven't had much time to test this, mostly because my +hit gear is integral to my build and I dont feel like gimping myself in raids.

Though without a saturated +hit rate, the +3% is better, but only if you're at +2% hit or below. Anything higher wastes the bonus, and most likely makes it inferior to the +7 damage scope.

Also, I don't use the Accurascope, I use the +7. Why wouldnt they just give hunters a 1% crit scope?

This is still a very good scope. It's just more for say a decent secondary bow for fights like huhuran where you lose all your hit to nature resist gear :P Otherwise +7 damage ftw.

Yes, it still is the best scope in the game IMO. For a raiding hunter, you need max hit (8.6%) to maximise DPS. No other stat is more important.
If you're 8.6% hit take a +28 crit scope (or +12 damage if you have a fast weapon), but if you're not, which will be most hunters, this is the baby you need to get your hands on.

  I'm on a low pop server (recent transfer) so the MC mats weren't as easy to find as i'd hoped, but definately worthwhile.

Im trying to get geared up for Kara and I am using Gladiators Crossbow. At first i was going to get a +28 Crit scope on it but the problem is that my crit chance is already high enough for raiding and hit rating is what I am lacking in.

So now Im thinking maybe I should get this scope but then it seems kinda wrong to put a hit rating enchant on a crossbow which is technically a PVP item.

I cant decide what to do! :/

The best piece of advice I can give about this scope is FIND AN ENGINEER THAT CAN CRAFT IT FIRST, then start collecting the mats. There is currently only 1 person on my server that can craft this and I got very lucky in finding him as well as collecting the mats. If you cannot find an engineer who can make it your wasting your time collecting the mats which are very difficult to collect, just go for the crit scope instead.

Hope they give engineers a similar scope for high end raiding... its almost impossible to find any one that has it nowadays.

was lucky to find on on AH for 500g but having a spare is always nice.

Blizzard is starting fuck up more and more nowadays.

if your not capped on hit rating this is better than stabalized eternium anyday of the week.

Update:

I have since found THREE engineers on Blade's Edge [A] that can craft this and I currently have one banked. As it is, my hit is at 99 so my Chicken Crossbow got the +28 Crit scope.

There are some items I have my eye on that will get me the +hit I need.

So this will collect dust in my bank till a rainy day I guess!

been looking for a few days now and cant find anyone who can make the Bliznicks 247x128 scope. is there anyone on the Whisperwind server that can make it ?
