This is the stuff you can find at random locations thru Silithus. Pick it up and return it to your faction camp for Reputation.

When one side gets 200 silithyst, they get a buff that gives them +25% bonus rep with Cenarion Circle.  Unfortunately this doesn't apply to quests, only to monster kills. It is worthwhile to get it before going into AQ though, and a raid can collect that much silithyst in no time.

Oh yeah, it also gives you a 30 minute buff that increases your ranged, melee and spell damage by 5%.

Kramler is right, you can shift into Ghost Wolf but you can't move any faster than just running, so there's no point.

What in the name of ??? is the "portal thingy"???  And where, exactly is it? I can't find anything looking remotely like a "portal thingy" to turn this stuff in.  Help, anyone?  The coords listed don't make any sense...I just end up at the wall of a tower.  Is this one of those things that Bliz quit doing?

There seems to be some confusion...for the players who haven't talked to Marshal Bluewall at the Alliance encampment..the Silithyst doesn't make any sense.  Refer to the quest Scouring The Desert and that should fill in any questions.  The Silithyst Extractor is in that camp...just across from him.  And yes, the Silithyst can be gathered (only one at a time per turn in) before actually accepting the quest.  Just keep in mind you can't make use of your mount while carrying the Silithyst.  His camp is right near the Hive'Zora.

The "portal-thingie" is a circular goblin-looking platform similar to ones in such places as Bootie Bay and Gadgetzan, or the Christmas "Santa's Helpers" transformers.  It has a blue glow emanating upward which should help you identify it.

You collect the dust, and yes, you have to run (at a reduced rate) to the turn-in site.  You might consider having someone with you to fight mobs that you aggro while you run onward.  If you remove the buff, the sands will linger for you to pick back up, but only for a short while.  It might disappear before you are able to kill the mob and pick the sands back up to continue.

And yes, you can do this turn-in without any quest.

OK I'm lvl 54 Warrior (Horde) Picked up the geiser, brought it to camp.  I guessed "portal-thingy" is a blue pool with smoke rising...Nothing happened.  I mounted just to drop it, still no good.  Is there a quest required?  Any more guidance on how this works?

Nevermind if you follow another thread Horde Silithyst Sentinel..It tells you where to go with geiser.  It's at the Horde symbol on your map.

QQ more. If druids prowl, they lose the sand. If rogues stealth, they lose the sand. Seriously GTF over yourself and learn to run without bubbling. My lvl 57 fire mage (yes, cloth and not frost) did this FINE and she has no bubble (mana shield doesn't take very much damage nor count as a sufficient bubble). So sucked IN. You're probably one of those noobs who tries bubbling in bgs when you're carrying the flag. Actually, you're probably one of the noobs who thinks flag > towers in Eots. RETARD.

For those who still dont know what the story is, its easy... look at your map.

There's two logos on the map, a blue Alliance one to the left, and a red Horde one to the right.

DO NOT run to Cenarion Hold (the main camp).

Whatever you are, run to your logo on the map.
When you get to the camp, you'll see a blue or red beam of light coming from the ground going to the sky. Run into the light... very easy.
