in Coilfang Steamvault random mobs drops items which starts a q. Quest is about gathering COILFANG ARMANENTs in Steamvaults. When u turn it in for the first time ull gain 750rep and for each Coil. Arm ull gain 75 rep. im honored with them and still gaining rep.

You can gain rep various ways for CE, just like any other Outland faction:

1. Quests
2. Unidentified Plant Parts (till you reach honored)
3. Running instances. (Slave Pens and Underbog till you reach Honored - some in Underbog still give you rep beyond, Steam Vaults or Heroic Instances beyond)
4. Coilfang Armaments once you get the quest item drop in SteamVaults - These will function past revered.

There are plenty of ways to earn reputation, and the plant parts/armaments aren't soulbound, so purchasing these off of other players is always an option.

you cant get CE rep for plant parts or for running colfang instances if you are past honored.

so here is how it is done.


1:  NO NOT TOUCH A SINGLE CE QUEST (except for the unidentified plant part quest) UNTILL YOU ARE HONORED.

2:  collect plant parts or/while waiting for a group for either underbog or the slave pens

3:  repeat until honored

4:  do ALL the CE quests you can find, this should bring you all the way to revered.

5:  run steamvaults until exalted.


this way is the best way, especially while leveling, if you do the quests first then you will be stuck from at honored or revered with no way to gain rep until you are high enough to run steamvaults, and even that isnt as fast.


EDIT: i am now 69, and exalted with the CE. i will likely get my EW tonight.

If you're gonna grind plant parts and then quest here is my recommendation:  Kill the mudfin frenzies in Serpent Lake.  It seemed to me that I had at least a 50% drop rate from a pack of fish (4 are linked). (Yes, thott has plant parts listed as about 22% drop from them. but test for yourself).  As a hunter the easiest thing to do was drop an explosive trap (yes underwater), send pet in,kill first fish and then multi-shot the next three (once pet had drawn aggro of pack into smaller group).  The fishies have very low hp.

I went from about 500/6000 friendly to honored in about 2 hours.  Hopefully the drop rate hasn't been nerfed with patches.  But it was extremely quick and efficient.

Constantly running Steamvaults and Heroic Coilfang Reservoir can be slightly impractical. I noticed that the non-elite wastewalker slaves in Heroic Slave Pens each give 12 rep apiece, and you can easily stealth through as a druid and kill them. You can also pull the elite slaves in Steamvaults without pulling the Slavemasters there. I did this for my last 1k rep, and I kind of wished I had though of it earlier, so I thought I would post it. The stealthing can be a little difficult, though.

Here is my 2c on the best way to gain rep:

Do not complete any quests until you have turned in unidentified plant parts up to honored!
This includes the quests that are in Hellfire.

1. Gathering Plant Parts - Best mob to grind plant parts on are mudfin frenzies. They have a good drop rate. They have low hp and are linked in groups of 4.  Pull in one the rest follow, then use an AoE to burn them down.
Then in no particular order
- Complete Hellfire and Zangamarsh quests.
- Complete instance quests in Slave Pens and Underbog
- Complete quests in Blade's Edge Mountains.  Ruuan Weald village in NE area has the CE quests.
- Steam Vault. There is one quest to pick up on the outside entrance and on the inside you should pick up a letter that starts another CE quest.  During the run you will/should come across Coilfang Armaments.  1 CA = 75 rep after the initial turn in.  The Armament will complete the quest for the letter you picked up.
- Then grind Steam Vault if necessary to get to revered.
EDIT: - Found quest in Stormspire, Netherstorm. Quest giver is at base of elevator to the left.  She gives a 3-step chain, Flora of the Eco-Dome, super easy worth a total of 750 CE rep.

I didn't do the faction gains in this order.  I wish I had though as I would have been well into revered by now.  As it stands I am 9/12k honored with about 1/2 of the quests left to complete in Blade's Edge.  Collecting the plant parts first before any quest completion would have made a huge difference!

Easiest way to get revered is by doing the repeatable quest to turn in Plant Parts like ppl have said. Turning in the plant parts will get you to honored and then youll have to do all the CE quests to get to revered, and remember there is some quests in TF and in the SW part of zanger. To get from 0 neutral to honored you will need 360 plant parts (9000 rep). I plan to buy all of mine from the AH and will prob make a lot of the gold back with all the trash you get from the bag you get.

Note: As of the latest patch (2.3, November 2007) the heroic "Reservoir Key" can be purchased upon being Honored with Cenarion Expedition, rather than Revered.

One more possible way to gain reputation with CE is to do the repeatable Consortium reputation quest in Netherstorm when you collect Ethereum Prison Keys and open the pink prison spheres. In addition to the usual mobs spawning from them you sometimes get captive NPC-s. If such an NPC is freed with the key you gain 500 rep from his/her faction. So far I had one Lower City and one CE guy and got 500 rep from LC / CE for them. But I think its not worth grinding CE rep this way as the chances are quite low.
