    This spell gives 10% mana for all healings you receive from any1??

    If so, imagine a protection paladin tanking 40 man raids with almost infinite mana to keep aggro!

      That's the idea. With the damage you'll be taking in a raid, and the amount of healing needed to keep up with it, you should have enough mana at all times.

    Keep in mind that this only works for heals from anyone BUT the paladin. So the healer can still run out of mana. It does make a paladin's mana equivalent to a warriors rage though.

      I recently respecc'd to Holy, and for this reason I love to have a shadow priest on board for vamperic embrace.  Not only does it make my job easier, but it help bump up my mana a bit too.

    Would this work on HoT buff from Healing Spring Totem?

    If so, a party with 2 shamans can drop mana spring and healing spring and the paladin would recieve even more mana!

        If you look at spell coefficients the Healing Stream totem counts as a HoT. It's the longest HoT in the game which is why it takes a ton of +heal in order to get any life into that healing over time it pumps out. If it were a direct heal the amount healed per tick would be gianormous compared to what it is now and would probably make this totem semi functional...but I digress. Mana spring totem does a lot more for your money there although I'm sure if you have a ton of +heal you would be able to produce some nice results with a paladin.

        My healing stream heals for 105 every 2 sec with resto talents and 1100+healing, still not GREAT but its something

    As a healer this skill is amazing with a Shadow priest in the group, 10% of a 100 heal from Vampiric embrace = 10 free mana. The ticks may be small but they add up quickly and over the duration of a boss fight its a lot of mana. I now prefer priests in shadow form for the benefit of the group.

    Also this skill works with the new Jewelcrafting statues. It will probably work with shaman healing totems but I havn't had a chance to confirm this yet.

      With a fully specced Shadow Priest, you will get 7.5% of their damage dealt as mana.  That's 5% from Vampiric Touch, and 2.5% from the healing done by Vampiric Embrace.

        On the 2.1 test server, they made it so that overhealing no longer gives pallies mana.

      Question, I know healing draws aggro but say the paly is the main tank.  If he heals himself along with others healing him, would he still be able to draw enough aggro to make worth it?  He would be using Righteous Fury in protection spec to have his Holy spells draw more aggro.

        Righteous Fury makes you gain threat through holy damage, so you get more aggro just dealing holy damage than healing yourself (which isn't even as much aggro as a priest's/druid's heal).

          No Righteous Fury doesnt make u gain threat thru holy DAMAGE u gain threat thru holy SPELLS in general, so in theory u shud gain more aggro by healing urself.

        Paladins have a built-in reduction in agro from healing just like a rogue has a built-in reduction in agro from damage.  This makes Paladin healing to get agro less than par.

      A pally with 479 +healing, using FoL (Rank 1) and the highest Blessing of Light would be able to give another pally the same amount of mana they're using to heal.  If you had two pallies with 1k +healing doing this to each other, it would net 77 mp5 for each of them (they would missing out on spirit regen during this time).  Not a big deal, but interesting.

      For those who want to check my math:
      • the +Healing from gear will be reduced by a factor of 31/70
      • the +Healing from BoL does not get reduced for spells until you go below lvl-20 spells

      This basically makes paladin tanking more viable. This stops forcing tankadins to gimp their HP and Def to improve their mana pools for relatively expensive spells like consecrate and chain-judging without ret talents.

        Fine in theory, but remember, parry isn't the same as dodge or miss, it speeds up your next swing, and there will come a point in raiding, where you'll want to block a few less times (think Prince phase two, when even If you block them, he can lay 22000 points of damage on you in 2 or 3 seconds) and parry and dodge as much as you can, and make up the difference in threat gen with extra spell damage.

      I really didnt feel like reading all these other comments so il just say it. Without this ability a paladin tank would be worthless. A paladins Concencrate is 660 mana, and for a tank with 6-7k mana buffed up, hes gona run oom quickly even chugging down mana pots. I have always raided as a holy paly. My flash heals are only about 2.1k buffed up, but thats still about 210 mana per flash heal, so it makes paly tanking possible. every 4.5 seconds he gets enough mana restored to lay down another concencrate, when the CD is 8 seconds.

      A lot of people assume that once you get this, a pally tank will never run OOM since they will be receiving heals a lot.

      Well, truth be told: a pally tank in very good tanking gear doesn't take much damage from normal 5-man instancing mobs. They follow the guides posted up on WoW forums to rotate consecrate, holy shield, judgment of righteousness, etc, and end up going OOM anyways because the healing they received isn't enough to regenerate anything useful.

      Fortunately, I have found a solution to this problem: The Threat Meter. Doing the above rotation if you are in good tanking gear in a regular 5-man is unbelievably overkill. When you start using a threat meter, simply make sure that your bar is always bigger than everyone elses, and eventually you will get a good handle on when you need to start producing more threat based on how quickly the mob is being killed.

      For raid bosses, the forums are correct, though. You need to crank out as much threat as possible, and for those guys you will be receiving many heals.
