if youre hoard, start at the barons, go north into ashenvale. head north west towards darkshore, and stay on the path. beware of alliance towns (one in particular that the path goes right through, i swam through the water surrounding the town to meet up with the path on the other side). from here you can either enter darkshore via the path or, head for the coast at the top left of ashenvale (what i did to avoid alliance characters and guards). the dock is about halfway through darkshore on the west side, i traveled the entire way to the dock along the coast. once you see the dock, prepare to die a few times unless youre a higher level then i was (level 15) at the hands of guards and higher level alliance chars. head for the boat in the middle (not the left or right, i had to try some trial and error for this). if you die just head for your body which isnt too far from the graveyard and just get a little closer to the boat each time you res(i had to die and res. about 3-4 times, not including deaths whilst getting on and off the wrong boats). the boat will drop you off in the bottom of exodar, head to the north east of the island, beware of city guards and chars that are stronger then you and youll be just fine (mobs are around level 8). tame the thing. before you leave you might as well kill some alliance guys for all the trouble you just went through. then hearthstone back. good luck.

This pet is unique to the Burning Crusage expansion, and will not be available until it is released. Low level ravagers will be found in the Draenie starting zone, south of Teldrassil. This area is only practically accessed by Alliance. To get to it, you must take the boat on the far end of the docks in Auberdine, Darkshore. However, the boat will not bring you there until the burning crusade is released, and if you try you will just get ported back to darkshore.

Best pets, no question, are:
PvE/Solo---Carrion bird. Birds/bats have screech, which is the obvious best special for its AoE taunt (no drawing aggro from adds when you heal your pet) and att power debuff (pet lives longer so you can kill the baddies). Better than owls because owls don't get bite, which is the most focus efficient damage ability. Carrion birds beat bats b/c they are better on defense instead of DPS. Remember, in PvE your pet is a tank, its job is to TAKE damage, not DO damage. If it holds aggro and lives longer so you have time to kill the baddies, it's the best, period. PvP/Group---Ravager. Ravager is the best DPS pet. It has base stats equal or better to any other DPS pet, and Gore is the most efficient no-cool-down damage ability. Bite is better, but with its cooldown you need a secondary and Gore is the next best. It has Dash for PvP chases. Opposite of a PvE/Solo pet, a PvP/Group pet is soley for DPS. Any PvP'er who attacks your pet is a retard, and in a group the player tank will have aggro anyway. Wolf is liked by some for the Howl group damage buff, but I think it's a poor tradeoff for Gore and superior stats. I suggest the Quillfang Ravager from Blades Edge. It comes with Gore 9, and I think it is the only pet that still has a random appearance each time you summon it.

there is 1 ravanger in outlands that you can get at lvl 63 thats changes colors every time you summon him its called Rip blade ravanger for more info check out Petopia the wow pet web site it gives way more details then thotbot =D happy tameing!
So I know everyone says Ravagers have the most DPS but I was wondering if, at any certain lvl do you have to acquire a different pet that has like say you have rank 2 gore do you have to find a different pet with rank 3 and play with him until you learn it? anybody? this whole things confusing me! Pet Vs Pet fights
I could almost bet 5k gold that ppl doing pet vs pet fights are still wearing all their gear. SO, considering that pets get a % bonus of the hunters own personal stats, it hardly convincing that your pet beat his pet etc. For example - if your both level 70 and one is epic-ed out with 11k HP or more with 1600+ AP and the other hunter is wearing greens 6.5k HP and 1200 AP, of course his pet is going to loose. lets not go into to much detail about how the two dueling have spec-ed, but lets assume they spec-ed exactly the same.) for a fair pet vs pet fight you have to strip of naked (yes -weapons too) and then send the pets in. only then would you be able to see how a pet really is. I love my Cat and it grabs agro fast and keeps it. As MM spec - mostly epic-ed out i really need a pet that holds the agro , or can get the agro back fast after i crit for 4k+ or multiple 2.5k crits. The cat is the only one i have had that can do that. SO FOR MY PLAYING STYLE ITS THE BEST FOR ME!!... You all have to figure what suits YOUR playing style the best. OK you guys want number crunches here it is, correct me if my logic is wrong:
CLAW - rank 9 dmg: 54 - 76 = 65 average GORE - rank 9 dmg: 37 - 61 = 49 average BOTH instant and BOTH cost 25 focus. Assuming a complete focus dump, that's 100 focus spent, which is 4 Claws or 4 Gores. CLAW 4 * 65 = 260 Total GORE (50% chance to do double damage, so 2 hits doubled and 2 hits normal) 2 * (49*2) + 2 * 49 = 294 Total Therefore in 1 focus dump, Gore will do 294 damage and Claw will do 260 damage.
So to compare a ravager with a cat or raptor... cat: bite/claw raptor: bite/claw ravagor: bite/gore Only difference with ravager is Gore instead of Claw, so will do more damage overall because of this. go to barrens, run nnorth through ashenvale (avoiding astranarr and felfire hill, then follow the main path, through darkshore, head into the sea near auberdine swim under the docks, drown and die, run to the end of the docks, wait till boat gets there get on it, rez when it starts to move, then just run to northeast Azuremyst isle! :D simple, then hearth back to where ever you started :) other people are like "ahh nice pet whered you get it?!" lol, hell even higher level chars are like "Sweet!" lol Awesome pet, good damage, and can actually tank 3 same level mobs with ease while i take them out (holds aggro like a dream too) hehe maybe im just lucky, but some people hate ravagers because they cant hold aggro?... hmm, i had mine since level 10, now im level 70 it owns everything!... high DPS since i trained it from a low level :D (+ the 5% boost from orc Racial)
These guys are amazing for DPS! I trained one at level 10 with my night elf hunter with 50% health left! It takes a little time to get there status up to lvl 6(Best Friend), but once you do, you have to feed them about every 2 hours to make them content(green smile). They also look hilarious when they swim :)! Ravagers have pretty good health but not an especially good amount, and don't look that great compared to their higher leveled cousins. These are great for low leveled hunters and will be your best DPS for a very long time!

Pretty good leveling pet imo.
I got the razorfang hatchling 59-60 from hellfire peninsula. Actually my first pet is ravager(which I abandoned which is a big mistake!), then a boar(a bigger mistake!), cat(my first breath of relief), then when I reached 60, got my second ravager which is for keeps together with the cat. The color is my favorite among the ravagers. It has a sports car color tones and accents to it which I think looks so damn cool!
It may not be cute but the sound it makes when it's attacking, sounds like a very angry child which I think is very cute!
You can fly in to the zoarm strand asinvale, or you can walk from the berrens. When i got mine I walked up the shore to alberdine and swam out under the dock to the boat and drounded myself. MAKE SHURE YOU ARE NOT TO DEEP! Then when the boat comes resurrect and jump on. then cut your way to them at the maragane wreckage. you cannot miss them.
