is there a quest/item you need to enter here?
If your tank can get 2 hit by any trash mob in gruul your in serious trouble.
Gruul's lair entrance of the area is Blade's Edge Mountains (62, 22) havent seen portal yet!

No attunement necessary. Our guild went in to screw around with a few 66's along. In fact, a 66 rogue was able to stealth all the way past the first boss to the door. Dunno if he was subtlety or not. From what we've seen, 2 pulls to the first boss too :P
First boss is High King Maulgar, he comes with 4 "adds" it's his council of ogres, there's a mage add, a warlock add, a shaman add and a priest add and then high king maulgar himself..
Maulgar hits very hard, so you need your best warrior to tank him, you have a mage spellsteal tank the mage add, one or two hunters with allot of NR to tank the shaman add, a warrior to tank the priest add, and a warlock to enslave the warlocks adds' pet and then tank him with it.
You kill the priest first, then the lock, then High King, then the shammy, then the mage..
and yes, there is 3 trash mobs on the way to the first encounter, 1 that stands alone, and 2 that stands in a group.
The one that comes alone is warrior of class, and the 2 that stands together is 1 priest, and a warrior, kill the priest first...
Hope this did enlighten a bit on the world of raiding ;P
High King maulgar btw, drops tokens for T4 shoulders.. and some other nice epics
Solution: Join a guild! :P
Attunment is not necessary for this instance.

Yeah I'd like to know how long this raid takes too. I had troubles pre BC with all the super long raids because I didn't have the time stay through it all (still in school and other commitments). I've heard that this is alot shorter so I'm all ears.

This instances is almost like Ony. A few pulls and you at the 1st boss. The main thing to get right on this is the 1st pull. If you can get the pulling down...its pretty easy.
Then a couple more mobs and you at Gruul. He isnt that hard imo....but we havent beat him yet. Our 1st try we got him to 30 % or so.
Good luck : )

From start to finish Ony can be cleared within 10mins.
Totally worthless these days.
Gruuls lair is totally different.
Your guild will probably spend afew weeks learning the 2 boss encounters.
Once mastered i have no doubt 30minute runs are possible.
Without a bit of karazhan/heroic gear, you'll have a really hard time with this fight.
No pally healers? Are you a damn moron? Pally's have the fastest heals in the game if specced holy and are the most mana efficent healers. Not to mention pallys bring Blessing of kings for MT's and Wisdom for Healers. Also they are a huge mana-well with Divine favor / Illumination. Our guild takes as many pally healers as possible. We downed Maulgar tonight and got Gruul to 9%, this was our second week in here and it really just requires alot of coordination, and people knowing how to Tank/Heal/Dps. GL :)
P.S. - Pally healers ftw
Yup 9% at gruul, you see your problem is holy paladins, we bring a lot of resto shamans and we down him every week without problems,
PS: resto shaman ftw.
HoT heals from Druids+Priest and burst heal from pally = win
Other than that, Pally is not necessary, but definitely nice to have when doing Gruul's Lair
Although you may not think so, there is some luck involved into beating Gruul. Whenever he ground slams and tosses the entire raid every which way, you only have about 3 seconds to get the hell away from other members until he shatters. As long as you can make it out of this attack, you will be fine. Each time our guild wiped, it was because a few healers died in this attack. When we finnally got it down (5th try of the night) we beat him without alot of difficulty. we actually downed him on Growth 16, and all heals were on our MT, then the DPS burned him down ASAP because each of his hits would get our MT down to about 2k health =P.
Ya if your guild is kara'd out, and your not tanking.
(I suggest doing kara bro, unless your guild has The Eye and SSC on farm, some of those pieces won't be replaced till those later raids)
Class make up differs widely in the 2 fights. The first fight against high king you need a very good mage, a couple hunters, 8 healers, i would say 4 tanks to be safe 1 main and 3 off (main being on king).
Gruul you need 2 tanks 8 healers and mad dps. Can probably be done with less healers but i assume thats the standard.
High King is like 2 pulls inside the instance in gruuls lair.. gruul is about another 4 pulls in
quick instance if you 1 shot it.. 30-40 mins
Good group. With normal group youll probably get a few wipes.
But if you mean "normal" with the dps speed (not according the wipes) you can do it with 30-40min because:
- Maulgar trash <5min
- Maulgar kill <8-15
- Gruul trash <5-10min
- Gruul kill <8-15min
1 very good mage who can spell steal tank on HK, a few hunters for misdirects, couple warlocks to enslave pets of HK's warlock and tank him with them. rest doesn't matter
Ranged is best here because HK whirls, gruul has cave ins that deal a lot of damage and are normally in melee range. But he 1 1 mob and doesn't leave the tank unless it dies
OK so,bout 4 heroicly geared tanks,6-8 heroic geared healers, and then a few mages, hunters, locks, elem shamans?
rofl the defense cap for a warrior tank is 490
Our gruul Tactic:
- 5 Groups, every group in one corner.
- Warlord in MT Group for live.
- Second Tank has to be 2nd place in KTM or Omen.
- 3-4 healers for MT, 1-2 for OffTank, Rest crossheal.
- We mark every healer with a sign. If he makes his "earthquake", you need to go away from your healers (signs)
- Shamans Bloodlust at 90%, because every is alive.
- MT Shieldwall at 10% live.
- Your tank should ALWAYS have 12k live, 1 crushing blow means dead.
If your fight takes to long, your maintank will die because Gruul Grows bigger and bigger. If he grows 1 time, he will make 10% more dmg. We actually kill him at about 11-15 grows. (110%- 150% more dmg from gruul to MT)
I think its an realy easy boss. Easier than maulgar. maulgar is also easy, if the start phase runs well.
I am the Maintank in our guild. I have buffed 21.500 live and 523 defense and 18k armor. No problem tanking gruul or maulgar.
For tanks :
550 def -> 19k live -> 10 attacks -> 1 hit -> healer : "wtf?"
520 def -> 21k live -> 10 attacks -> 3 hit -> healer dont sleeps
My past killed has killed him at grow 21, so even though he does add damage he is entirely killable at this point. The more dps you bring the fewer grows you have to deal with.
MAKE SURE you know which of your alt tanks will be taking aggro if your main tank dies... Cannot stress this enough, if your main tank dies, heals need to be on the correct off tank ASAP
Gruul is the shortest 25 man raid.. 30 mins? it's possible
We did priest ,mages counterspell healing blah bllah blah a spank n tank is next just let loose and warlock enslave demons then a choice of mage and shaman spells on mage melee on shaman.then high king is like olm just a spank and tank/dps but harder
my guild farms gruul with a warrior (mt) another warrior (ot) and a druid (2nd ot) and a prot pally to save up some agro if warriors die. we have about 5-7 healers.. 3 on mt 1 or 2 on offtanks. and 1 or 2 on rest of group. (our main tank really doesnt need 3 healers but w/e). we finnish this raid in about 25 min not including time to get group members and buffinf time. an adverage of one wipe if we only have 5 healers otherwise we never wipe.. as long as you kill Blind eye the seer first then olm the summoner then kiggler the crazed (while the mages kill the other dude) your good. as long as you have atleast 13 people left (not including healers) this boss will be down in 2 min. our guild also down gruul about the 9th or 10th growth. usualy no deaths. just spread out and tank and spank. GL
If you /roar at the ogres, they roar back (without aggroing). At least they do when you're in cat form. Pretty awesome imo :p
Can someone link the minimal stats for MT/OT Gruuls for a warrior please?
I have been through Kara a couple times and have some t4 and other PvE epics including tailoring, am i geared enough for Gruul's?
Yes you're most certainly ready for gruuls, my guild runs mag and gruul pugs on our server and we've had puggers in blues able to survive and dish out a meaningful amounts of dps, even S2 gear works, just make sure you bring your brain and your ears.
Gruul's is a dead easy raid. 20-30 mins and its over. My guild farms once a week for alts, along with Maggy's. Both are good fun fights tho.
when we did gruul the mage kited the shaman så we could take down the preist and we had two tanks. one on gruul, and the other tank went for the warlock( shadow preist or whatever)
we had mostly melee dps and a few mages. this tactict worked quite good actualy! im suprised myself it worked:D
but i got the hammer of naaru so i was happy:D:D:D
Bout what should the plus heals for a shammy be to even think of doing good in there?
