This is a true Druid PVP Weapon. I will be getting this plus earthwarden. Though Earth warden really will be my PVE weapon. I hope there a good stamina enchant to put on the warden.
This though is just amazing stats and the shapeshifting reduction is just WOW!
A combination of natural shapeshifter, this, and furor make power shifters a true monstrosity to be dealt with.
Perhaps we will see a change in druid dpsing from "stand by target and hit mangle" to the return of power shift shredders.
druid DPS shouldn't have to be balanced around powershifting.
You don't need to power shift just like you don't need to use Adrenaline Rush. But if it is available to you, why wouldn't you want to?
i'm well aware that it's the best dps; i'm saying it should not be. it's a ridiculous gimmick, clearly not intended, and hopefully one day cats will be able to do more damage by actually staying in cat form.
Shapeshifting doesn't break fear.
I find it baffling when ferals complain about how they want to be able to do more damage while only staying in cat form. What you're essentially asking is to spam 3 buttons AND out-dps other classes. Forgive blizzard for making the druid class more complex than solely kitty dps-ing to win.
Feral talents in the expansion can be centered around a dps, then crap, I need to heal! style, which may call for ferals to morph and and.... heaven forbid: Heal someone! Or kitty dps-ing, then @#&$, I need to tank!. A druid's role can be always changing in an encounter.
In pvp, certainly, changing forms is necessary for your own survivability and necessary to come out on top. Personally, the buttons to shift in and out of cat, bear, and cheetah are in the first four buttons on my action bar.
This weapon is bangin', imo, because it adds more depth and flexibility to a class which few seem to understand. They'll be weapons centered more for pve kitty druids that never shift out of animal form, I'm sure. There's no need to complain.
No one is saying they want to do more dmg than damage classes. They're saying they want to do more damage while staying in their damage form, than while shifting in and out of that damage form.

Pay attention. No one is saying the druid is to stay in catshape FOREVER. Feel free to pop out and heal and/or tank. BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO DPS, YOU SHOULD DO MORE DAMAGE WHILE STAYING IN KITTY THAN WHILE SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF KITTY.

If you think you're being an effective druid by staying in one form. You're wrong. Using all your abilities is what being a hybrid is all about. Not rocking as one class, but doing everything well. And its all about timing as well. shift to caster to pop a heal where it's needed then shift back to bear to pick up an add.
And versatility in PvP is also key.
shift into cat and ninja a GY in AV. go bear to distract the guards and let the rogue cap.
Seriously, if you're under the impression you're helping everyone by staying in cat form for the rest of your toons life. You're mistaken.
You guys with the "Ferals want auto attack for the win I guess" posts are MISSING THE POINT. Yes, druids agree that we need to heal and change forms in battle, but that's not what anyone (except you) is talking about here. They are talking about power-shifting, this is using the furor talent and shifting in and out of catform as fast as possible to rapidly regain energy and pull off a damage move every second. Some were saying how this staff is ideal for that. Others were saying that power-shifting should not be the best way to dps as a druid, and we should be able to do more dps staying in catform than when doing this power-shifting gimmick which Blizzard clearly didn;t intend. I hope that clears things up for you.
If anyone who is on WoW Burning Crusade beta sees these comments, could you please report the bug with this staff on the beta forums. It is not reducing the cost of shapeshifting by 200mana, as it's tooltip suggests. Instead it has no effect on shapshift cost. Please report this on the bug report forums, because it's the best wepaon for feral druids and we really need it ro work :P . Thanks in advance.
Terestrian stranglestaff is the druid pvp weapon, this is for pve tanking. If you look at the fact it has armour, and only str and stam, not agi, you can see it's intended for bear form more than catform, making it a tank weapon.
Stranglestaff has more AP, as well as agi,str and stam, making it a much more appealing choice for shredding faces.

This is by far the best feral weapon in the game. Some of the other weapons have slightly better stats; the gladiator's maul for example is king in terms of attack power. Earthwarden provides better armor/defense. But this staff will enable you to do things that you cannot do with the others. For example, travel form with natural shapeshifter will be almost free.
for some reason, the -mana by shifting dosnt work :(

I'll make this evening a picture of it :) But, if you carry the staff on the back, it is invisible. You can see it only if you are in the fight :) I've made an post in the forum about the bug.

after the latest patch, the staff is now allways visible but the reduction of shiftinc costs arn't implemented.

i cant believe people are sooking about this staff, and the druid class. ive been playing a druid for over two years now, and we must be the most whiny, sooky class in the game. personally i havent had any major problems with the class (ive been feral for that two year period [switched balance for x2 days, resto for about a week, wasnt impressed by either] so i cant really speak for other spec's, but this item seems to be geared towards feral anyway), all in all its been alot of fun playing a druid, and the itemization in the burning crusade looks better than its ever been (this has been my only big issue with the class as a whole, its always been difficult to find items that are tailored to the class and the Talent spec)
honestly, if you think this staff sucks, if you think this class sucks, log out, delete your character, and reroll a new one. cause if you really suck that bad with such a great class, its time to face facts and call it quits. either that or get off the thottbot/wow forums and quit your whinning!

People in beta REPORT THE BUG WITH THIS STAFF, WHILE WE STILL HAVE THE CHANCE! =O I do not see any report that the shapeshifting manacost reduction is not working, you guys must report it becuase Blizzard are LOOKING for bugs now, if you report them in BETA. If this is not fixed before burning crusade goes live, then we will have to wait for the next patch atleast before it works, and that will be 1/2 MONTHS. If they even fix it by then... It is imperative that you guys make an issue of this and make sure the best feral druid staff is going to work!
Very, very nice staff. If possible, I might skip the exalted rep grind with Cenarion Expedition for Earthwarden if I can get this.

Yes - this is a PvP weapon.
Stranglestaff is a slightly better Cat DPS weapon. It is also harder to get - this comes from the Auction House with some cash - not from Kharazan.
Earthwarden is a MUCH better Tanking Weapon. Also easier to get than the Stranglestaff, and maybe even this. Most can rack up their rep before they even hit 70.
This weapon is PvP-mode for Feral Druids. A mana-cost decrease, and a good combination of Armor and Stats. PvP involves DPS against targets in Bear-form, while being attacked by other characters. The armor and the strength on this average out well.
A very flexible Feral Weapon, without a clear Bear or Cat preference - and a discount for shifting around from one to the other. Of course, any Druid that had with Warden Staff and a DPS weapon knows the virtues of weapon-switching while in Combat, but this thing makes it far less necessary.
